If thats hard to explain this to someone in words then you have two options -

1 - stop wasting your time as they clearly don't get it

2 - find a friend with a 500bhp S2 to prove it to them in the flesh

I honestly think the S2 has to be one the most (hate to say it but) 'tunable' cars cos of the massive strength of the engine and the abundance of parts that can be obtained fairly easily and for not insane money.

You could spend £2500-£3000 on a fairly ordinary S2 with high miles in stock condition. Sure it might have tired running gear and may need some refreshment here and there, but spending approx 1k on brakes, 1k on suspension, 1k on a monster turbo upgrade, 2k on other engine work and 1k on lightweight wheels and slick tyres and you have an absolutely stonking trackday car for £8500 with the performance to embarrass an awful lot of exotic machinery... If driven half decently of course !

Would it ever have the 'pose factor' of the latest Elise, M3 or Scooby/Evo rocket ? No, but would it be the fastest, best sounding, most fun and 'bang for your buck' out there - oh yes !

Haha, had the same conversation with colleagues many times =)

The cost and upgrade options of an S2 makes it a fantastic middle-ground between a road and track car IMO.

It's a personal thing, the money i spent on my mkiii supra could have bought me a mkiv twin turbo, got ribbed from my mates coz of that but didn't like the look of the mkiv and my mkiii would kick the **** of a mildly tuned mkiv. Prob spent about 10k on my s2 inluding purches in less than a year and i've just started lol. Just up to the individual as to what they want to spend. I understand the argument about losing money on mods lost a **** load on the supra, prob would have been better braking the car tbh, but it's individuality
    Just my oppinion

Because it defines who you are.

You choose a car that you feel reflects closest the image you'd like to project to other road users.
If you find the right one, and you want to adapt it to exactly the image you want, then it makes sense to modify as far as is required. The value of the car to someone else is irrelevant, unless the car is a stepping stone to another, currently unaffordable one.

Well you can tune up any car you own .. its your prefference... Its the feeling it gives you when it puts you into the back of the seat and the trip you make in it through the performance. ..... I went to thorpe park and most of the rides didn't scare me too much .... as I've got used to the speed of performance cars ..... I guess you can say that its like going to a theme park everytime you step into that car

    Whats the point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been having a very interesting debate with a work mate about tuning up an audi S2 which he cant really get his head around for some crazy reason he does'nt see the point in it and thinks it is a waste of time, plus he has no idea what an s2 really is
His argument was that why spend all that time and money on a car that can only really be used on a race track, He really thought i was telling porkies when i told him that a 5 pot engine could easily reach 500hp, with the same sort of torque figures.

I explained to him till i was red in the face that you cant really rationalise the love of an S2 because i dont really know why but for some reason it is a drug.
Has anyone else got any valid reasons why it is such a good idea to tune up an S2 as i cant really explain it in words
Working...
