    Convert FWD coupe to Quattro?

As some of you guys have probably seen, i've just bought a 20v Coupe

I've seen a spare / repair 20v Quattro scruffy MOT failure for sale very cheaply, my question really is - how hard would it be to convert my FWD 20v coupe to quattro using this other one as a donor car?

I'm assuming gearbox, prop, rear subframe, diff, rear suspension is needed to be transplanted? Anything else?

Would it a be a reasonably straight forward bolt on 'swap' or more complicated?
Would be a nice little project if i could do it reaonably easily, on the drive or at a local workshop - can any of you guys offer advice?

I'd easily make my money back just from breaking it, but is the conversion do-able by a reasonable amatuer?

    Cheers

The entire floor of the car is different, back end isnt even close to being the same. Only way would be to cut the floor pan out and swap bodys over, not feasable IMO best to get a quattro shell.

If you can pick the quattro up cheap build your car into its shell

Only successfull conversion i know of was QST's cabrio.

Could just steal the better rear suspension and drop that god awful rear beam! Thats my idea anyhow, still going to need to 'cut and shut' some of the floor pan parts though.

You any good at welding? i'm fine wiv the spanners.

Would like some clear pics of the underside of a fwd and a 4wd to estimate the work needed.

Yeah i'm ok with the spanners and my mate is a welder who used to build tanks for the MOD, so he's pretty good!

But to be honest though, thought it might be a cheap bolt-on swap, but evidently not.

what i think i'll do is buy the car. if its in decent enough nick, i'll restore it back to top condition and sell it on or keep it

if its a dog, then i might break it and put plans into place for some kind of mutant coupe :mischeif:

hehe Error404 you have crazy ideas in mind! hahaha it's a nice and nasty project... one friend of mine tried to do it in the States but because of his reduced amount of patience he got surrended earlier and stayed with his FWD with a torsen differential. I recommend you to buy a donnor car, is the best thing you could do.... that way the headache will be a lot less frustrating! If you stay with the FWD, buy a torsen diff or LSD or Quaife... will help you lots on curves and the torquesteer will be much less! I know it'd be not like a Quattro but it'd be much better than a FWD w\open diff!!!

I don't know bro... Quaife's is about US$ 1.200,00... A NEW ONE! LSD and torsen...any idea...! I'll ask my friend... if I can find him again! 4 example... the Dodge Neon SRT4 ('05 and up) has the Quaife... and with the lot of power and torque it has... on curves is great! Instead the '03-'04 SRT4's (w\open diff) are *****s beside the '05 model
