Picture a urS6 auto, lovely car, goes well, decided to check the lambda, it was the original one from 1996. 
With the new one fitted, I found it does much better mpg and just as quick, if not more so.
A week later I put in some injection cleaner from a mate, ( need to check with them re the "never heard of before brand" - €14.00 a bottle ), and the car's performance improves a bit further. Not sure if the injectors were ever cleaned.
Moral of the story is that if you don't know when your lamda was changed last, do it, it'll be well worth the €80 odd euros.
Same applies to the injection cleaner.
TBH, didn't think they'd make as much of a difference as they both did , so no exact factual measurements of before and after, but, miles per tank, is a significant amount more.
The obvious items, can often be overlooked, when dealing with all of the other stuff on these cars.
