Well I have decided that Green isn't that much of a problem now as it seems to be a popular colour and they do look good in it!

The reason behind the no green spec was that my dad had a few unlucky green cars. The problems included failure of handbrake cable while parked on a steep hill and driving round a corner to be confronted with a huge group of cyclists on one side of the road and a parked car on the other, he hit the car.

    Nothing wrong with green,

where did this come from BTW, green phobia?

Looks like a nice car as far as one can see from the ad, the wood and cloth can easily be changed out later, and the price bargained down now?

Post a photo of whatever you buy, buy an ABY and make it an Avant !, but then again I would say that wouldn't I ?

    See signature.

    My tuppence.

I know it's green but there can't be too many left at this sort of mileage / condition

    S2 hunting

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for all of your replies on this, I have been to view a couple now and very nearly bought one. I've decided I'd prefer a coupe now as the one I saw at the weekend was very impressive, if a bit loud. I've also decided that an RS2 turbo would be a big plus! So if you've got one let me know, I'm willing to travel and have a fair budget for the right car.

    Cheers,

    Will

My avant is getting tested in the morning then it's going in the trader, I've had it a year and it's never failed me yet.

    In the past twelve months it's had;

    oil and filter
    top mounts
    front ARB links
    NGK spark plugs
    clear front indicators

Good Dunlop sp2000's all round, it's done 174k but you'd never know, massive history book,

It's in Laser Red, which could do with a little TLC, both back arches have bubbled, about 1"x2", one side I've scraped the paint off to see the extent of the rust with a view to spraying it myself, the rust has hardly touched the metalwork!

It's agood honest motor and it breaks my heart to sell it but it just not getting used, 100+mile/day commute and two babies means no playtime for me!

I'm a bit busy this weekend as I've got a Volvo S60 D5 to pick up on saturday to use as my work bus, but if you're interested, let me know and I'll upload some pics when I get chance.

It's going in the Trader at £2500 ono, £2200 will buy it to a forum member.

    Thanks, Dave.

P.S. I'm in Barnsley by the way, easy 3 hours from london on a weekend, 2 hours return in the S2!

    Just tatty

You shouldnt have much of a problem getting an avant - everyone knows they are worth less anyway

Yup , although I prefer to think of it as 'in disguise' rather than 'tatty'

The car is not for sale, but I had to speak up before everyone did as tatty looking minter sums my car up rather well.

That said, is it only March and I am already considering giving it its first wash of the year, even though it really doesn't need it yet.

    Good luck with the search

    Cheers n

    Si

I take it you gave up on the blue one in Somerset? Might be worth getting it to Audiman for a check up if it was a nice car with just the missfire, quite a common fault with the coil per cylinder setup on the ABY. A once over with VAGCom and a boost leak test should highlight any biggies.

    S2

I think I'd prefer one with a few dents as well as I'd like to be able to park it anywhere and not worry about it. So as long as the interior and running gear is good I'd be happy.
