    License plate lights out

My license plate lights are out so I thought it would be just a simple case of replacing both bulbs (one was spent). I popped them in, turn on the side lights and.... nowt.

All other lights on this circuit are working (under bonnet light, instrument lights and glove box) which confirfirms that Fuse 14 is okay (I checked it anyway).

I then pulled down the bulb holder assembly to have a look at it, it has some verdigris on the copper contacts but not really where it counts. I measured 0V directly across the spade conectors instead of the expected 12V.

So it is fair to say that I have a break in the wiring somewhere. Has anyone had the fault before? Any BTDT to make the job that little bit easier?

    Thanks fellas.

Yeah. Had that problem. Just a corroded loom behind the number plate panel. I renewed it when I last sealed up my tail lights. The loom was only a few quid from my dealer IIRC.

I had that with mine, (car off the road for a couple of years).

I had 12v, but no earth, so just ran an earth to the body.

I would check and see if you are missing 12v, or earth, and then chase back.

Whoops, just saw the first date.

Have you tried the dealer or Audi tradition?
