  • Audi 80 B4 93' - Headlights problems

    Evening everyone,
apology in advance if something isn't correctly spelled or phrased. So onto the problems. First of all, I recently got myself some Xenon 35W bulbs, mainly because my halogen bulbs kept burning one after the other. And the issue start at this point, with lowbeam set , being single section H4 headlight, the highbeam must also be set, but not exactly. See, the highbeams "go left", and I mean..they go hard. Whenever I switch to highbeam the focus point goes left, on both headlights, the issue is present with halogen bulbs also. The second problem is that same highbeam is also not so "high" beam, its on the same height as the lowbeam but it is much brighter, when it should be little bit higher and central focused. I'm posting several pictures just to be clear, hope it shows well enough what's the problem. Also, when I turn the highbeam, shouldn't the reflector get "filled" ,when watching in from the front, or should it stay in the "top" section of the headlight.

    Video 2 : https://youtu.be/2KKvU8hPHXE
Note : On the second video, the left headlights is right next the vent, see as the focus moves left.

Furthermore their is reverse gear rear light issue, where the rear lights are low on lumens. Any Ideas how can I increase rear visibility? The bulbs are P21W5, thinking about LED, but im not quit sure it will have the desired effect.

P.S All the problems persist with halogen bulbs and xenon bulbs (2 sets). Also the car is lefthand drive.
P.S 2 The difference in the light shapes comes from turning the bulbs upside down, can you also tell me, which option is the right one, just to be clear. The videos and photos are currently on #1.

    OEM headlights?
Bright leds usually have more light. If not enough you can get HID kits on Aliexpress for P21W fittings.
I always put my fog lights on while backing up.

Probably gonna try Osram LEDs for the rear, but the headlights problem is still present.
Also Xenon or not, its my opinion to use it or not, please focus on the main point.

Are these ellipsoids or standard headlights? I.e. two h1 bulbs one dip and one main or dual filament h4 for both?

These thing are illegal for a reason in EU. The same reason you are struggling with. Regular halogen headlights are not designed for this, and will cause glare for oncoming traffic.
Don't be an selfish idiot, and use at least projector headlights.

About the illegal part, could be your country only, which is not entire EU, nor Europe. Where I'm currently at it is totally legal using any kind of bulbs except RED ones for the front headlights. Besides that, its the second time you are spamming out of topic, being salty and what not. Stay on topic, if you have no opinion on the main theme, don't type anything plus when properly regulated the glare is less than unregulated halogen lamps. Finally, you don't know me , so don't put labels on me , will you?

I would check the adjustment alignment on headlights first. Also make sure the bulbs are seated correctly, which I expect you already have. But worth double checking

If you are in Bulgaria, which is part of EU, then it is definately illegal. It is 100% illegal to convert halogen headlight into HID headlamp. Maybe it is not enforced so strictly there.
Fortunately in here the chinese xenon kit trend has passed, police will take away your MOT(TÜV) and you cant pass MOT when your headlights doesn't have markings on them that say they are meant for HID.
It was a very annoying period of time, every "tuner" must have was 8000K violet 55W HID lamps thah blinded all oncoming traffic.

Also you need healight washers and automatic levelling if the output exceeds 2000 lumens.

Use a least projectors or aftermarket headlight if you want HID.

The headlights are properly aligned, there is NO way to seat the bulb incorrectly , also is checked.

The only other suggestion I have is checking that the reflector internally is fitted in properly and the glass is lined up, not sure what else to suggest

I was always lead to believe that the headlight should, on dip point to the kerb side. Why don't you have the mot fellas check it on the machine. H I D headlights I think are illegal if the headlight doesn't self level. Having said that its your car if you want to fit them. Good luck sorting it out chap.

The numbers on the headlights are 1 305 621 465(right) and 1 305 621 464(left), other numbers being Е13 1358 for the left and Е13 1359 for the right. I couldn't find them in ETKA or Google, so I can't figure if they are RHD indeed.
