  • lost my keys, can anyone help?

    hi there,

    posted on audifans too
    http://www.audifans.net/modules.php?...=114866#114866

anyway, after getting my car back from a local mechanic (long story), i lost my ignition key. i have a spare but that does not start the car. wondered what my options were for getting the car usable asp. my local dealer's option will mean at least middle of next week and getting my car over there (somehow)
any help will be gratefully received!
    thanks
    Phil

I am sure this can be done with vag-com, but I have not done it myself, hopefully someone can tell you how if you know someone with the cable.

I personally don't like sharing the security aspects of recoding keys and immos etc on this forum - ANYONE could be watching it. I would only share it with those I intrinisically trust - sorry about that, but S2/RS2's have been stolen to order already and this would just make it easier.

I hate to say it, but the local dealer (or an automotive security specialist) is the best option for you - they may ask for proof of ownership so don't be offended by that.

That is a fair point paul...

I only got the service key with mine so would like to disable the other old ones and add new ones at some point...

BTW, did you get my pm about hoses?

        Cheers

          thanks,
definately don't want a 'how to hotwire my car' on the public boards!
was just hoping to use the car today. it's already been two weeks without it

          Thanks

Its a right pain I know, but I'm glad you appreciate the sensitivity of this subject.

Wow, thats a pretty good policy option, did you request that or was it just standard?

I take it that this is on the later cars as I was planning on getting a spare key cut for mine but did not know it was coded or anything?

It applies to factory IMMO equipped cars - circa July 94 onwards.

                          thanks for support and interest.
have got a new key on order from audi, and upgraded my aa cover to include homestart( through lloyds bank). so if the key does not turn up aa will get car to dealers for re-coding.
meantime borrowed my old pug 205 diesel off my Dad. (thanks Dad) at least i will be able to go shopping.
not having use of the car has also seen my motorbike out, zephyr 1100. so not all bad i guess.
suppose the longer its not being used the saving in petrol will help towards the mishap with my power steering pump

good insurance you have here btw.

                          regards
