In the short run, replace the 20A yellow topped thermal fuse with a 20 Amp (yellow) spade fuse. If it blows when you move a window or the sunroof, you have a wiring problem that you need to sort. If nothing happens, i.e. the window and sunroof function normally, even after the car heats up, you are done.

    Well
I also have small little cheaper looking thermal fuses in the are under the driver’s knee on the relay boards that may be the cause of the fault.
    Thanks

Yes, it's a double size relay, 287 in your picture.

The sunroof does run through the same relay, hence they both stop working together.

It could be the thermal fuse as mentioned above but also as likely is that the contacts on the relay are prone to breaking. If you have a soldering iron, open up the relay and resolder all the contacts where they join the circuit board.

There's a post on here where others have had the same problem and it's worked. Also worked for me.

Probably but the 441959257C in the photo below has been superceded to the 441959257D, under dash relay panel, position 5&6 (see second photo below the first):

Not sure about the number on the 257C but it should be in the position of the "287" shown in this photo (the 324 is the after run pump relay, PN 447965571A):

Perfect to demonstrate which ones I had in mind. The two small ones in the foreground of the photo.

    Thanks Dave.

Hopefully all of this helps the original poster.

Not exactly what you wanted but here are some thermal fuse photos anyway:

Robbed from urS4boy’s link in another S2forum thread active now, when you scoll down and see the fuseboard photos, you’ll see the little “fuses” I was referring to at the back of the fuseboard.

    HTH.

    Thanks Dave.
