    Sparking problem on starting?

My 3B has had this problem for a while now, this is what happens

try and start the car, nothing, ignition off, try again

ignition on, the engine coughs and turns a revolution? then you turn the key to start the car and it starts?

sometimes it doesnt start at all, other times it takes longer and it coughs for a bit and eventually comes to life?

    when it's running its fine,

I got a diagnostics man to come out and he found the crank sensors are fine and sending the right signals, the distributors fine, the spark on start up is just random, it misses sparks or has too many sparks in one go or just doesnt spark, I've changed the ignition amplifier and coil to a known to be working one from someone on here and made sure its got a good earth

also the ecu is just throwing up different fault codes aswell, if reset it happens again

he says there should be 12 volts from both terminals on the coil but one only has 6?
so now I'm stuck, he thinks its either the wiring or the ecu? but when its running it doesnt miss or stall so its confusing?

so does anybody know what the problem is likely to be? I dont know what to do next? its been homefried but the problem was there before that

    thanks for any help,
Working...
