Spot on! Thanks for the pointer to Alex's writeup

I saw smoke coming out of the switch earlier so I guess one of the contacts has burnt out.

WD40 or contact cleaner and lots of wiggling fixed my main beam in a similar situation. Worth a try...

    Help no wipers now!

Right, fixed the brake lights and now the wipers don't wipe!

Pulling the wiper stalk towards me activates the windscreen washers and the wipers move for whatever the relay is set to. Turn the wiper stalk up to get 1st speed and second speed wipe does nothing. The wipers move briefly as I move the stalk upwards so I'm thinking it might be the switch contacts. The rear washer jet works but no joy out of the wiper. I guess an MOT will be difficult without operative wipers

I had a spare set of stalk switches, but sods law the wiper stalk is already bust on them...Having taken the bust one apart it's full of small contacts and springs...eek not a simple job to strip and rebuild
Working...
