I removed the stock crankcase breather system and fitted a cheap catch tank a few months ago.
I have had my car at a track day at Phillip Island this weekend, and have been noticing that within about 5 laps or so time, there is about 1/2 litre of oil caught in the catch tank. The level on the dipstick is also a lot lower.
When i'm driving the car during the week it seems to take some time to fill up. It seems 5 or so hard laps on boost the majority of the time change this!
I don't have a return to sump line on the bottom of my tank, so after every session I had been removing the tank and draining it back into the sump.
I am curious is this a normal rate of collection of oil in a catch tank? Do I need to look at something else with the engine? It seems like excessive oil blow by to me... If its normal, I'll just go ahead and fit a return to sump line and not worry about it for now.
thanks,
Jason
