    Dizzy Cap replacement

Well I think I’ve fallen foul of the dreaded boost leak!

Heading home from the Lakes Mon night, overtaking so I was giving it some decent revs, car suddenly misfired briefly - thud!! Just thought I'd hit the rev limited, tho I did think that I wasn't revving that hard, too busy watching the road. Seemed ok but a few miles later as im picking the revs up coming off the Hexham roundabout its worse, thud thud thud!! as it misses, then again a little later as soon as I get over about 4-5K. Really bad until I back off, change up to 5th say. Got home ok just taking it easy and no probs, until I try to gun it.

The 7a had something similar (particularly embarrassing incident overtaking a Scorpio who was trying to be clever then having to pull in a mile later on with the car bunny hopping about - same road too!!) That turned out to be the dizzy and this feels almost identical – but it looks like its more likely to be a boost leak and overprotection kicking in. Almost certainly

However, Ive nothing to lose by changing the dizzy cap anyway whilst I sort the leak – no idea when it was last done. Could be lucky and sort it, tho I doubt it!!

Does anyone have the Bosch part no handy and, as it looks a right swine to get at, any top tips for replacing??!!

    cheers

    Paul
