  • No oilpressure at start

Hi , what are the most usual solutions to problem , no oil pressure when trying a new rebuild engine , im trying to get oil pressure without the fuelpums , just turning the key. The oil pump , how does the original work? its a aby engine.
    Best regards

Did you fill the oil pump with oil before the re-build, or fill it with grease? It sometimes need to be primed before it will start to suck from the sump, the only thing i can suggest is, if you have access, take out the oil pressure relief valve and spring and inject oil into the pump and re-fit the spring and relief valve then try again.

Take the large oil pressure sensor off and pump some oil down the oil galley. BTDT, this should fix it for you. Place the sensor back on before starting the motor

Has it got enough oil in it?

How long has it been turning over for?

If only a few seconds then I wouldn't expect there to be pressure just yet. It could take 15+seconds of continual turning, especially if you are filling hydraulic tappets.

Someone mentioned turning over without spark plugs. Definitely worth doing - the extra cranking speed is well worth having.

As above - fill the filter first. Make sure oil filter is assembled with lube or packed with soluable grease. If not, remove oil temp sensor and oil pressure relief valve from oil pump and inject 200ml oil through the port in the oil pump. Reassemble and crank engine over without plugs and with fuelling diabled. You will see 4+bar after around 10 seconds. Don't crank too long without rest or you will torch your starter motor.

I should fill the filter AND remove oil temp sensor and oil pressure relief valve from oil pump and inject 200ml oil through the port in the oil pump.
Correct ? Could someone help with the oil tem sensor ? If i stand infront of the car on the right side there a bulky one and a small one. As i understand the oil tempsensor is the big bulky one. The oil pressure relif valve from oil pump ,, how much do i have to dissassemble of the engine to get to the pump ?

The oil temp sensor is under the car on the front right side. It has a single wire attached by a screw. If you remove that sensor, there is a spring under it and a valve. It all slides out. Make sure it's all clean and not scored and put it back the same way it came out.
