My ABY S2 has never been able to communicate with Vagcom since Ive owned it.I always got communication errors and that was it!Today I decided to get stuck in and find out what the problem was.
I connected a DVM to the K and L lines of the white diagnostic connector in the fuse box,and measured each to ground looking for a short of some kind. The K line measured 15.9k ohms to ground, the L line o/c.I checked my 20v Urq,and that measured o/c to ground on the K line.I disconnected the main cable from the ECU,the K line still showed 15.9k.Not The ECU!
Next I removed all the wires connected to the K line bus terminal in the fuse box.The 15.9k disappeared on the green/red K line to the ECU.There were two other wires connected to the terminal, another green/red wire and a green/black.The green/red measured about 16k to ground.Yes,that must be it!!This wire, according to the RS2 circuit information, goes to the immobiliser.
The car had been fitted with an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser before I bought it,so I guess someone had done a bodged up job of removing the OEM system and reconnecting the new one.I left the immobiliser wire disconnected.
I reconnected Vagcom.....Voila! "engine speed sensor-implausable signal-intermittent".Now I know why the car dies once in a while.
Anyway its all go now,so if you have problems with Vagcom communicating with your S2,it could be the immobiliser circuit.
