I have never used Mark so cant comment about his work.
One thing i will say tho, im surprised that you find the car more agressive WITHOUT an N75 controlling boost. IME, i have always found WG only boost to be 'smooth', but when mapped with N75 i found my S2 brutal.
And N75's dont go wrong that often, shocked that you have had 3
As said above you pays your money and makes your choice.
My UR was mapped by Mark and personally i wouldn't by choice use anyone else for this car. Mark has mapped it with standalone and Motronic.
I opted to have the N75 valve removed firstly they are rubbish and secondly the response of the car is dramatically changed, some would like it some wouldn't.. my ur is savage in its power delivery and given the occasional use it gets i wanted to build it so it scared me when i used it.
A further point on the N75, if you opt for a ball bearing turbo it will generally be to efficient for your car & most definitely if you have not modified anything else.
Removing the N75 with a small BB turbo will create surge highlighting the inefficiencies of the inlet track and exhaust system.
Admittedly some safety features are removed but that was my choice, dont see many S1's with a N75. Furthermore if safety features concerned me it would of all stayed standard.
My RS4 will be mapped by MRC as i am not going radical i will be keeping the N75 (its on its third of these rubbish things already) and in truth given the volume of RS4's that MRC work on it probably makes sense.
I'm not saying MRC are not as i have no experience, but Mark is an utter perfectionist he has stayed mapping my cars until 3am in the morning as he is not happy until every single item of the map has been viewed and adjusted to his satisfaction.
Mark doesn't use the N75, but that's through choice rather than because he can't. I would speak to him direct to discuss it. 01642 714200. If after talking to him you think it's unsafe then wait for MRC. If you're happy that there would still be sufficient safety features then go ahead if he can get you in sooner.
Personally i would only ever use MRC for all my remapping. They have done all my cars and my customers cars, all with very good results.
Automark bypasses factory boost control, all well and good, but that removes some of the safety functions of the ECU if something goes wrong, ie., if the ECU detects loads of knock it will cut boost, If ECU cannot control the boost then you risk damage.
VEMS is ok, but YOU MUST KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!! You push too far with timing and you will be seeing the engine in bits, get fuelling wrong and you good destroy valves, manifolds, turbos etc etc etc.
Sweeping statement, after quite a bit of research there are pro's and cons to both.
The obvious con with motronics is the lead time but then you could spend the same amount of time i.e months perfecting a stand a lone map.
But, you are only relying on yourself for the VEMS, you don't need to rely on other peoples timescales and reliability for it, Motronic you will always be in the hands of others, and what if you upgrade again in the future....?
Car is not really drivable. ECU is mapped for the 10v (with motronic) that I had in there previously, can't believe it even started! Runs way too rich though and you never know what damage you are doing on a long drive.
Automark.... comes very highly rated, and is a helpful guy on the phone.
Vems is stand alone ecu that you can map yourself...
Stick with the motronic. Can you not drive out to France to visit Mihnea there for a map?
