Cheers for the offer Andy. Since changing the fuel filter, which was not easy as everything had welded itself together over time, the pump seems noticeably better. On a point of interest, you should have seen the borwn sludge that came out of it, so it's anyobes guess as to when that was last changed. -
You say the fuel pump is very noisy, I'd be suspicious of that, it's generally a sign that all is not well. Can you swap it for a std pump just to check? I have a known S2 pump if thats any use?Leave a comment:

Took the dizzy cap off today to check and I have fitted the 11 mm one. The wide one is what I got from GSF and have not used.
Removed all boost hoses today (turbo and intercooler) and checked for air leaks and splits, but found nothing. ALso changed the fuel filter in case that was restricting fuel.Leave a comment:

In which case you have the wide one, which is wrong...
You can simply reduce the size with a belt sander, grinder / power file... It will work fine...
Remove the same amount from both sides so that the tip remains "central"

Andy,Here's Marc's post about the modified rotor arm
@Steve, I have a spare Bosch rotor arm if you want to borrow and rule that out. Ring me if you do.
1. Can you put a picture of it on here so I can compare it to what I've fitted.
2. Mine is the same as the one on the left in post #21 of the link. If so, is this the wrong one as it was ordered from a normally reliable source?
3. Also, I put the dizzy back in the same position as it came out when everything was set at TDC. In post #80, it says to place the distributor in the cylinder head so that the distributor rotor faces towards the water pipe. What's the reason for this and what's the difference as long as it lines up?Last edited by steverrquattro; 17 October 2011, 22:00.Leave a comment:

The proper 3B rotor was also used by Toyota and is a PN 19102-02020 according to the archives.
Marc S. from EFI Express has also posted on here as how to trim the tip of a 7A rotor down to the proper 11 mm width (but I can't find the post at the moment)Leave a comment:

As a point on interest, the rotor arm I took off was the same as the one I put on. The dizzy had a metal gear fitted and I am therefore assuming that the rotor arm has been replaced in the past. I am now just pondering that it is the wider tipped one and I might be getting spark hop.
What is the correct part number and how wide should the tip be?
I didn't glue the replacement one on, so it shouldn't be too bad to get off again.Leave a comment:

The guy who I bought the car off only did around 100 miles since the conversion and allegedly it was a new fault to him. I can't see Dialynx sending a car out like this as the fault is so obvious that you would just take it straight back to them.
I've also tried a spare MAF and that made no difference.
Interestingly a friend of mine has the same fault on his car and that's a 350bhp car as well.

Yes, spark plugs changed before I did the other bits.sorry but 3B ignition is waste of time and money. the money you spend on leads, rotor, cap..etc..
you could buy 5 coil and swap it to AAN ECU. it is better option in every case. lot of stupid issue where solved on AAN ignition sistem.
nevermind...
maybe your spark plug are in bed condition. did you change it?
use BOSCH F5DPOR.Leave a comment:

I have a UR Quattro with a 3B engine. It's recently had the Dialynx upgrade which consists of the usual RS2 injectors, exhaust manifold, intercooler and turbo.
When I test drove the car it was hesitating, in fact when you floor it in 3rd, 4th and 5th, it's just missing all the time.
I've pulled the codes and it's showing 4444, which it means nothing is stored. Stepping this through gives 0000, so again whatever is wrong is not being picked up by the self diagnostics.
So far I've changed the rotor arm, dizzy cap and put on a new set of magnecore leads in. I'm going to order a fuel filter as the 034 pump that's on the car is VERY noisey and I'm worried about fuel starvation.
Any ideas on what to check next?Tags: None
