I know! I've sorted much worse than this before, but this was close to being the straw that broke the camels back. She's been off the road so long and been pretty much down to its basic components in the current refresh. I just want it all done so i can enjoy driving it again. I had to threaten the poor girl by parking a nice e90 3 series coupe m sport next to her and mention words like "replacement"... That's when I found the fuse.....
Shortly afterwards she fired me down a couple of country lanes an reminded me what she was capable of.

And there you were, ready to break the car for spares, all due to a fuse. Hope you don't run into a *serious* issue or we'll have to call the suicide watch for you.

Could have 14v when you check it with a multimeter but might have a crappy earth or corroded terminals failing under load. Are the connectors clean?
check the earth, if i remember correctly the wiring runs down the passenger side and the earth is under the dash in the front passenger footwell, make sure they are good.

I forgot to mention i can hear the pump whine (to prime) quietly when i first turn the ignition to position 1, not that that is significant...

Running Probs, pos fuel pump wiring related.

Right, I had an issue with the car not starting after doing the fuel filter and some lines.
It was taking longer than usual to prime, (i.e no priming)
Another member suggested running the fuel pump without cranking the car to get the air out, so i lifted the boot carpet and used my second spare battery to power up the pump. Sure enought the pump whined but after a while and some gurgling the whine began to lower in pitch (indicating an increase in fuel pressure)
So i plugged the connector back onto the pump, and right enought the car started instantly, but after a while died. I repeated all the steps above but the same every time.
If i opened the throttle at all the car died.

So i tried running the pump off the second spare battery and fired the car up again. This time the car ran fine, idles a bit lumpy but other than that totally fine! So i thought it must be the pump not getting any power from the loom connector, so i put a multimeter across and it had just under 14v!!! So whilst the car was running i swapped from the spare battery to the loom connector i could hear instantly that the pump was not whining and the car was beginning to die, so i switched back to the spare battery and right enough the pump whined and the engine recovered. Checked the loom connector again, it still has 13-14v.
    Whats going on??
Is this symptoms of the pump giving up? Or does this sound like a wiring prob?
I just want it sorted now so i can MOT it, but if it doesnt play ball soon im going to sack it in and break it for parts
    Please
Working...
