    In N Ireland mot's are done by government agency's. I'm allowed 3.5 and 1200ppm.

I thought that anything post 92 in S2/4 world was 0.3% CO and 200ppm at fast idle You need a cat to get it below 0.7% or thereabouts.

basically I'd agree with the above, you do need to give it a good stretch before taking it to the garage IMO

    Emission fail

Any idea which spark plugs I should use. Will the standard plug work well with a lightly modified engine. I tend to drive sedately with a minor thrash now and then.

mmm, I think diesel is the difference here.

As it's pre 1995 no cat is not a problem, just got to get HC below 1200. I don't understand why the K&N should be a problem with that?

    There's your problem. K&N filter.

That and no cats (don't care about your rr Urq story, that is not the car in question) and not checking that the G62 is working properly.

but only if it was first used before 31 July 1995? If yes, HC can be up to 1200ppm.

    Mot fail on emissions.

CO is no problem as due to age and test limits it is allowed to run up to 3.5% vol or less. 1.990 is high though. I am also allowed 1200ppm so i need to get the numbers down from 3380. I have a 20v ur quattro with an rr engine and no cats and it runs at 0.5% vol. The HC is he problem.
