This is standard stuff Bazz, each mirror has a heating element built in the back, they just burn out over time. You can replace it with the blindspot type £43.49+vat, the plain glass type @ £31.13+vat or a convex @ £34.37+vat. All you need do is swap over a new glass in your passenger side, there's two wire that push ionto the back of the glass for the heating. Could be worth making sure both wires are on, and in good condition first! but I bet its just worn out, thats all. At least our ones last a LONG time! the early A3 and A4 only lasted one winter and burnt out!!
