How much is a bare metal respray?

Ok, just asking, hypothetically, how much would it cost to send a car off to a workshop to be stripped down to it's shell and resprayed? And also, how much of a ball-ache would it be to have the shell re-galvanised. Are we talking astronomical costs here or is it actually a feasible undertaking? I'm sure I've seen a post on it somewhere before but can't remember where.

I got nearly a full job done on mine about 10 years ago I supplied 2 new front wings and windscreen he resprayed the wings the side panels but didn't do the roof or boot as they were excellent condition and did it for £1500 cash and he's excellent am taking mine back to him when it needs doing again he use to be a BMW and Audi sprayer but works for himself doing jobs like this but he mainly does boats these days am guessing what you are asking for would be around 4K?? Good luck researching!!

Thanks. I just did a Google search for Greg Howell and found a website in his name. It looks like he can do anything, all the way to acid dipping the shell. I've sent a message to Ish, I think now I'll make contact with Mr Howell! Thanks gents!

Strip the car to bare shell, acid dip, e coat, paint and rebuild. Sourcing all the little Parts that broke. Replacing and refinishing everything.
I can’t see much change from 20k. Of course if an RS2 is worth 60k it’s worth it.
Be prepared for it to take a few years too.

Well it came with no service history, but I suppose if it's mint an RS2 is an RS2. Not quite sure how far I will go with it, if I go with anything at all. It may turn out to be more trouble than it's worth so I might be better selling it as is, a project for someone else. That said it would be nice to have a showroom example to take round the circuit. We shall see...
