For me the Abt car just reminds me of Tommy Sten Kristoffersen’s rallycross S2 we watched at Brands Hatch back in the day alongside various other older short sport type stuff.

I know, I am ashamed to admit to having sold them in the early/late 90s

Still, you live and learn. I just hope they don't come back into fashion, they weighed about 3 times what a multispoke rim would.

I think the term is “of the period” modification. Which is used as a polite way of saying ‘questionable‘ in the mid-1990’s, ‘horrendous’ in the mid-2000’s and ‘of the period’ today. You wait, it’ll be ‘Uber cool’ again by 2030...

As others have said. It was the Abt body kit that gave the wide arches.

Front wide arches and wide front bumper. ABT was wide body kit. Never the less "RSR" was the most authentic RS2 coupe you could've had.
That new body kit thing above that "shakes the world" i dont know...but thats me.

Hmmm, front does look good, front to rear arch looks like it was forgotten, rear...no! It looks like 3 people were asked to design their sections and none of them talked to each other. The faux carbon ‘intakes’ just look really bad in my view. Its a car that is really functional so fake intakes and bulges just doesn't look right. Something not right about the period wing mirrors...its just not a cohesive visual package to me.

Were do they get the RS2 bit from? Exactly nothing on it even resembles RS2? More like a modern day sport quattro if anything. Looks cool, wouldnt ruin a nice S2 with it though. Front end view looked menacing. I liked the wide arces, the front end sort of and the bonnet. The scoop or whatever it is behind the doors looked awful. Front canards awful. Rear end sort of interesting but not wow. Just my 2p.
