  • Door card foam renewal

Hi to anyone who can assist…..I’ve removed the rear door card to rectify the old glue that’s dried and made the inset on the door card baggy.
what’s the best process. Got the new foam…should I glue the foam to the cloth and then glue it to the card? But how to you secure the edges and make it neet? Before stripping I thought the inset panel would have been detachable so you can wrap the edges of the cloth around the inset, but that’s not the case?

I have thought about this a lot. I have not actually attempted this yet.
My thought was attaching the foam to the panel first; then gluing the fabric to the foam and tucking the edges in. It might be difficult to tuck the fabric and foam together. This is all speculation.

I have an older Mercedes with a similar design... I was considering making a plate/ detachable panel then covering that with the materials and attaching it.

There are a few on here that have refurbished theirs with great results; Hopefully they will chime in.
