  • Boxster seats in a coupe

Just wondering if anyone has any experience on trying to get porsche seats into a b3.

There is a pair available stupid cheap locally. Obviously not 100% plug and play. But maybe a better fit for me than a pair of mk2 gti recaros that i will be looking at later this week.

I think that MK2 golf seats should be the same or very close to a straight fit.

Info here suggested mk2 seat sliders are too narrow. That said it would be irrelevant as the recaros i will look at have no bases. The question i also have about recaros is that it has been over a decade and infinite beers since i last sat in them. I recall them being more appropriatly sized for skinny chain smoking europeans from the 80s, i am none of those things lol!

If i have to get some bases no matter what, these may be a better fit for me.

I should also mention tha the porsche seats cost 1/8th that of the recaros!

The problem you'll have is seat widths and rail heights. Mk2 Golf seats fit straight in but they position the seat far too low. I had Colour Concept Recaros in the S2 for a little while and they rubbed the centre console and didn't go high enough. I bought some Mk2 Recaro seat frames which I had to have modified (extend rear legs) to fit some after market Recaros which have since been great.

Most Porsche seats I've seen 996/986 have standard Recaro style mountings (four bolts on base) which would be easy to fit if you could find a set of Recaro seat rails. Although width of seat may still be an issue.

Thanks for the info. Seller of the Porsche seats is out of town for another week but will definitely bring a measuring tape. The problem with recaros as far as i can tell right now will be the bases. I suspect things are a bit easier to find over there. I'll most likely never find the proper recaro bases and if i did, they cost thousands. There are ways to do it cheaper but still pretty $$$ and not quite as proper.

Basically, the recaros represent a pretty large sum of money and i will find out on thursday if i even still fit in them lol.

            Hi Ottawa coupe
would some 1991 black leather seats interest you?
I visit Ottawa regularly and could deliver.
I am located in Quebec Eastern Townships. Have owned two Coupes
one from new. Still running the 1990. Nice to see someone else shares the
            interest (and problems!)

I will bear it in mind. This is the second coupe that i have had in my hands and i gotta say, i am not exactly a fan of the stock seats. Admittedly in both instances, the thigh bolsters were shot but i found that the bar dug into my leg and wasn't a nice place to sit. I think though there were 2 seats offered here??

Yes a pair from a California car I parted out. Therefore no seat heaters. Email me if you are interested.

Recaro seats are out. They were not what i thought they were. I think they are actually the super rare (here) mk3 gti seats. The seat pan was a similar 1 piece design as my mk3 cabrio seats. Was being the operative word. Lots of cutting and welding was done to fit them to a jeep of some sort. Theoretically i could hack up my cabby seat pans and weld them on and get these working properly again i supoose but probably not. A big gamble for pretty big $ and being mk3, i sit up high still....

Yeah i saw that. But the CAD is utter dog poo now. Totally unaffordable for me.
