  • Rear coilovers for SWB conversion to S2

    Hi all.
First time poster, I've been looking around and searching and lots of good info on here, but I haven't been able to answer my question yet.
DL SWB car, converted to S2 uprights - is there an off-the-shelf coilover for the rear? S2 kits as far as I have found are separate spring and damper.
Any help is appreciated, and happy to be pointed in the right direction.
    Cheers.
    N.

Personally, for a SWB project I'd make my own coil-overs using S2 uprights, then go for Bilstien dampers and custom springs of the right weight for the car, however that's not what you asked...

I'm pretty sure BC racing make a good quality kit for the S2/CQ chassis, I know a couple of years back a member on here got them to put together a custom set up for his S2 Avant using B3/4 Coupe front's and B5 Avant rear's, so they're prepared to be helpful.

      Thanks.
I've seen a lot of chat about making up a set with Bilstein inserts and using tubes from (among others I'm sure) Compbrake. At the moment that seems the best option.

An engineering company modified mine using the original ur struts. Bilstein B6 sport dampers and 8 inch 2.5 ID springs from Coil Springs in Sheffield. I decided on 300lb matched all round for the spring rates which works for me. The top mounts were custom made by Bambridge who is on here. I can post pics if that would help.

Thanks. Great info. Pictures would be amazing if it's not too much trouble.

If oyu have an s2 coupe suspension and hub set up then any s2 coupe coilovers (kw, h&r, bc racing etc) will fit your b2 swb
I went down the converted upright with bilstein shocks route but could never find a good bslance for the road when it came to spring weights. It either was too firm or bottomed out on potholes
