While stripping my Avant's rear suspension, I notice that some nut and bolt combinations have a washer fitted before the nut and some don't.
Is it just Audi wanting to save money by not fitting a washer, or is there a another reason to do with torque/nut coming loose or something ?
What's the purpose(s) of a washer ?
