Busy with a project at the mo. Doing a 40mm shift of AAN in narrow body so I can fit a front mounted radiator. CV angles not viewed as a big problem, as at least the inner CV's can be changed to tripod type with longer plunge.

However not worth the effort on a street car. Does make a difference on the track car, but so does camber, toe in and rear toe out, to make the car a little tail happy.

Weight as mentioned, but battery first and second starter motor. Replace it with one from AAN, NG etc. Its a smaller dia starter and a bit lighter. Also quieter.

Now if only we could find a L5 ali block, then that would put a smile on a few faces.

Wouldn't adding something heavy to the rear have the same effect?

What's the problem with CV's runing at constant let's say 15 degree angle? GKN states that their AC and UF joints handle approx. 50 degrees, so we have up to ~30 degrees for tuning and wheel travel. If it's not daily drive car you don't need to worry that you won't be able to drive like 250kkm with such setup

Yes, I had a mate wth me and he helpfully posted this photo on Facebook:

We had just popped along to a local classic car show, and i might have just slightly taken the piss out of the Metro

Also had to watch as scores of 70 or so year old cars sailed past, whilst i was sat there in a layby with the bonnet up

When I broke down it sounded like it was not running on all 5, so is suspected a coil pack or wiring fault of some kind. Had a cursary look.

Couldn't figure it out and so decided to use my RAC member ship for the first time since getting it for my Le Mans trip about two years ago.

He comp tested all 5, with 4 being at 175 and he claimed the last one had no compression at all! So I took his word for it and did not want to run the engine in case of causing further damage, presumed the worst and sent it to Pete Berry who built the engine and it was a f"cking plug. I think I may need to run slightly colder plugs.

I have filed a complaint to see if i can get anything out of the RAC.

I would add the following to that list.

    1) Manual cloth seats at front
    2) Magnesium or light alloy rims
    3) Monoblock Calipers and Ceramic Discs
    4) Lightest tyres on the market in conjunction with Helium
    5) Fibre Glass hood/fenders/bumper
    6) Minus aircon
    7) Titanium half shafts

There is much you can do to lighten up the Car. How far ya gonna go with it is the ponder

In conjunction with offset top mounts, you'll reduce the wheel offset.

What about offset engine and tranny mounts? Could see 10-15mm offset of engine and box
