  • KV quattro clutch fluid and bleeding?

The clutch pedal on my 1987 CQ often needs manually lifting from the floor with my toe/foot.

The little clutch Reservoir is cracked and empty.

Has anyone found a replacement that fits OK ?

I was thinking maybe one from a motorcycle would fair better from sun damage, etc?

It says on the cap 'Dot3' but will Dot4 brake fluid work okay?

Also, how do I bleed the clutch pedal to get all the old stuff out?

    Thanks in advance.

I'd heard of folks using a motorbike one, if functionality is preferred over originality then why not ?!
Something like this perhaps?..... Rear Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir 15ml - HEL | Motorcycle Parts | Wemoto UK
Demon Tweeks or a Kit-Car company might have a better choice?
Your only thing to look out for would be mounting point and outlet diameter.
Dot 4 will be fine, same stuff just higher boiling point.
For bleeding, keep the reservoir topped up while you work the pedal up and down with the slave cylinder bleed nipple open with a tube on it going into a bottle, looking for a you-tube video will explain all.

I’ve always had great success gravity bleeding the clutches on RS2/S2’s. Find a clear bit of pipe thats a really tight fit on the slave cylinders bleed nipple, fit it and make sure the open end is a few inches above the master cylinder. Back the nipple off about a quarter turn, just enough to allow fluid out then leave it for an hour or so or until theres no bubbles in the clear pipe, nip the nipple up and you should be done.

if you’re having to pull the pedal back up that suggests the slave cylinder is close to the end of its life or a pedal pivot is very worn, it can also be caused by the internal walls of the flexible hose collapsing.
