Please keep us updated on these straight-cut dog boxes / gear kits for 01E. Its all too rich for my blood, but I am very interested to hear the outcome of folk trying these.

I have found a source for straight-cut gearbox insert. It can be made by PAR Australia. They are making one now for S4 that is doing some drag racing. We will see how it holds.
Established in 2002 and wholly Australian owned, PAR provides 3 main areas of Engineering Services. All these Services are accepted from concept through to complete fulfilment whether it is an Automated Solution, Drive Train Transmission Gear Set or a specialised process such as Electron Beam Welding accommodating clients in many manufacturing & service industry sectors.Last edited by Albert; 25 February 2008, 09:15.Leave a comment:

I'm currently waiting on outcome of making such a box for a friend of mine from Russia. Got him connected to one of Latvia rally teams. They are making a gearbox for him to hold rediculous 800HP.
Should be finished in few weeks. Was something like 7K EUR.Leave a comment:

Im looking into getting a custom Straight cut, dog engaged H pattern gearset. Have mailed a couple of companies here in sweden that do just that sort of thing. Expected price is around 4k GBP excluding shipping and someone actually fitting it into your gearbox casing. Could keep this thread updated

One of the customers came to the garage with an ex sutton motorsport S1 a long time ago(late 80's), when they had just finished racing- with a normal dog box.
He asked then when buying it if he could buy one of the then new tiptronic/sequential boxes that were originally fitted, the guy just laughed and told him he had more chance of buying Audi than getting hold of one of those boxes.(and this guy was not short of cash).
Good luck with your search for a box- but i have a feeling the boxes all run a PTO set up And range from 15k to 25k!!and thats without the yearly rebuilds!
(Rather change gear myself for that money!)Leave a comment:

I like the sound if thisI have called my friend and asked about the gearbox. He had 600HP and ~600Nm. This gearbox was arranged by his friend Vladimir that has vary fast S4 2.7T. This gearbox can me bade with 5 or 6 speed setups.
There is also company in Australia that can make 01E gearbox set. http://www.ppgearbox.com.au/

I have heard that there are some pretty good dog boxes made in Lithuania. My friend had this box in his dag EVO. The price was about ~ 5000 euro. Some time ago I was trying to get some info and back then making an Audi "01E" box was not a problem.Last edited by Albert; 3 July 2007, 19:04.Leave a comment:

Hold on. KRB uses either a Sellholm - Swedish 'box. NOT CHEAP at all! Most seq shift boxes around are built like X-Trac - that measn essentially a RWD box with a PTO. This means, there will be allot of work to get it in there. I think Schanche boxes are like that at least.
Seq shift for me feels way to damn expensive but a dogbox or dog kit for a 01E would be killer!
Touring stuff is cool - but it's way to high strung to suit most of us... The stuff requires allot of maintnance and they are too damn expensive to start with.
The most bolt-on solution I've come across (no BTDT) is using a WRC box from a Subaru Impreza. Same basic layout as Audi... The price however... is high.Last edited by Henka; 2 July 2007, 22:26.Leave a comment:
