The 2.8's are even better, a fair bit more power and a lot more torque, though the 2.6 moves along briskly enough for 150bhp and has a decent amount of torque...

If you want a longer ratio box that's a relatively easy fit then I'd go for five speed 01A gearbox from a 2.8 30V ACK engine C4, code CKF, rear diff code DJT and is 4.11 final drive. It's geared for an engine that produces 197BHP but only revs a little higher so will give a 2.6 car slightly longer legs without bogging it down.

The six speed from a B5 Passat 4 motion will probably be a total pain to make fit, is it even an 01A if it's a six speed? Plus 4Motion isn't quattro so I have no idea if it still uses a Torsen center diff.

The sixth gear on a lot of VAG cars from this period are not designed to increase the top speed, they're normally only slightly taller than fifth and intended to help with economy.

Both will require custom side mounts but the C4 box is a better match and much easier to make fit as you can still swap the drive shaft flanges around.

And as mentioned above if you want an 01A to survive don't launch it hard in first gear.
Yes they hold up good i think. Have a smaller one for another car and its just going and going.
Payed 120 dollar then i think. This is the one : https://www.maxpeedingrodsus.com/pro...42064568189106

The user Rxl here in this thread send us this link. There i can find it to be 4:11

I actually have one of those T04E clones, made by another Chinese company but it looks identical other than not having the Maxspeeding logo on it, same wheel specs the lot and looks very well made.

A tip I got from watching people on YouTube using these internally gated Chinese turbos is to open up the wastegate hole by a couple of mm as they tend to be under-sized.

I paid £40 for it from eBay as it was a shop soiled return and was thinking of bolting it up to my K-Jet 2.0 B3 3A engine as an experiment. I had kinda wrote that idea off but I'm reconsidering playing with it now.

I'm seriously impressed with the performance you're getting out of yours, as long as it keeps working then happy days, though if you're running it at 2bar it probably would have broken by now if it was going to.

As long as the C5 box is 4.11 it will work mechanically, though getting driveshafts to mate up could be a sod if the flanges aren't interchangeable.

Haha. The B3 3A, just do it

The engine of mine is very well build and for the breathing ive also have bigger exhaust valves and ported head. Then im running exhaust cam 7A. So i think its breathe more than well for the turbo to spool.

Im still waiting on pictures of the A6 c4 gearbox to see if the flanges are the same as mine. I hope so for a smooth direct fit.
I have my gearbox mounts still here, so if the A6 C4 dosent fit i maybe only can bolt the old ones on it.

Edit: Im a idiot...keep mixing model codes all the time. In the last posts i mean C4, not the C5 gearbox (that im sure they have wrong flanges) .

Yeah, I think I will just for fun, the compression ration is 10:1 so I'll start with half a bar and maybe up it to a bar if I can it to chuck enough fuel in.

I use a wide-band gauge on all my turbocharged cars for safety so I can see what they're doing.... Some people simply wire the choke injector to fire as soon as the turbo kicks in which seems to work well enough with K-jet cars.

Your ported big valve head will make a considerable improvement to the spool up, the 7A cam will only help once you get over 4K RPM.

I'm sure the flowed head on my 3B made a massive difference with the K24 7200. That really was a wild machine due to some seriously aggressive software that stuck a rod through the block of guy I sold it to's engine, still he really likes it and is still running it, only now with H beams.

Somehow I avoided that as my AFR on WOT was very rich, around 10.3-5 which I figure is what saved my engine.

            Good luck with the gearbox!
