    Zoig has 2.2...

I don't really care about launching so that downside won't bother me much..
Less wasted energy in the gearbox has to be a good advantage of the gearbox chip..
Popdemonic is still running an auto gearbox (slushbox) with a modified turbo setup which is encouraging.
The slushbox is able for 450Nm so why do they break? My car has approx 135k miles and it came with the original gearbox in the boot? It was changed at around 100k miles?
The car is 2.2 AAN engine Zoig, have you a 4.2?

I think I'd like to chip the gearbox 1st to feel the difference and then chip the engine to feel the difference.

On every day use, the Gearbox chip makes the car a lot more usable, than stock (as prj said, this should have been the stock from the beginning). On stock chip, the engine revved to 3000rpm on moderate acceleration from standstill 0.1-0.5 Bar boost. The MTM chip lets the engine to rev around 2200-2600 in the same conditions. I recon that having fun in the snow would also be more enjoyable with the new chip(less gearbox lag). Also 3rd gear, 55-60km/h the revs dropped from 2200->2000

Less gearbox slipping, less energy wasted inside gearbox: better fuel mileage

Only downside is, that because the gearbox wont slip trough so much, flatout launches without holding down the brake are a bit boring. Thats because in the 1st gear original soft revved the engine to 3000+ -> more boost to counter the long 1st gear. (should not be a problem on 4.2 S6)

No need for the rolling road, but you can do so.
The gearbox chip just makes the gearbox snappier and engages gears faster.

But yes, 260-270hp ECU chip together with a gearbox chip works very well and is easy on the fuel. Zoig is running that combo for a while now, and it is IMO how the car should have left the factory.

So I can put the AAN to 260/270 bhp if I get the ecu chip for the gearbox to tighten it up.. In general if I get one of these chipsets installed in my engine ecu is it a good idea to do a rolling road run before and after?

If you don't put a big turbo on the car and just stick with stock, then with a gearbox chip and conservative ECU tune it is possible to make the car use less fuel and have better power delivery without endangering the gearbox.

There are cars that have went for 15 years with this setup and their gearbox is still fine.

I'll send him a pm and ask for his views on the gearbox life. My car won't be getting a mod list like that, no matter how much she wants it.

Popdemonic from Thailand (who posts here from time to time), has a 96 UrS6 automatic that he had chipped for awhile without problems but then went to RS2(ish) levels. His transmission died not long after.

Here is his list of mods:

    "1995 Euro Audi UrS6 Auto.BKK,THAILAND.
    Garrett GT2871RS/KKK26 Hybrid.
    3" DP,EXHAUST.
    D585 LS2's Coils
    greddy E-01 E.Boost controller.
    034 Stage1+ 1.8Bar.
    440CC RS Cosworth Injectors.
    4Bar FPR/044 Bosch FP.
    3Bar Vmap/1.9 WG Spring.

Good shopping list there zoig. I'm going to research the option of the gearbox chip + engine chip, I'll watch your thread with interest about the changeover.

I can help you with the gearbox chip.
You can open up the gearbox ECU and if you photograph it opened, I will show you what chip you need to change.
I can also write and send you said chip, if you are interested.

    PM me for more

Thank you Zoig, that could be the answer I need, are mtm the only source for this gearbox chip?
Does anybody know if s2central or Mihnea has done this?
How many miles / kilometres have you done since the chip was installed?
I'll look forward to some information on the manual conversion please?

Sorry for all the questions, more stuff to search for now...

I've been running my S6 with MTM 264Ps chip for a while now, before that was noname 198kW chip. No worries with the box yet. Also With the MTM chip i installed MTM chip to the gearbox, with made it a lot more tighter than before. AFAIK it increased the pressures in the box and altered the learning sport feature, so it could stand more extra power. My friend has driven with quite modified S6(faster turbo response and more torque) for years now without a problem. He's running the MTM gearbox software too.

Iv'e heard that with the MTM chipped gearbox, it could reliably stand 410Nm, probably more with shorter life.

How to change from automatic to manual i could tell you in a few months, I'm currently working on to make the swap during the fall.

started a topic s6 auto box how fragile is it really

s6 auto box how fragile is it really

Right folks a couple of quick questions..
My s6 would like more power, she's been looking for it for a while now but things came to a head today and we've ended up arguing about it ever since. I've told her a few times now that her auto box will not like this extra power. She doesn't believe me and asked me to contact s2forum.com for assistance.

Is the auto box able to handle a homefry or similar?
Is there an upgrade that can be done to the auto box?
Failing all of the above how about dropping in a real box, how big of a deal would it be electronically / electrically to make the manual work.

    No launching, just driving.
Working...
