Hey, thanks to all the advise and kind words!!!
I just text that guy and apparently he's already sold it and he tried to email me but it didn't get through.
I'm pretty devastated as was looking to buy it today.
I now have a knackered Capri and Bmw 323i and no car to get to work in on Monday!
I've debated looking into the white one (who i understand is on the forum) but i'm not sure i can really afford it.
If anyone see's a nice black S2 i would be interested.
Thanks again
PS: Who is rusty?

This might appear blunt, but if you're happy to learn, then only buy an ABY - End of.
To 3b owners, I've got my flamesuit on, so do your worst.
btw, the advice is meant to help, don't buy the first one you see, I know it can be difficult when one is keen to get one, but remember you'll be "stuck" with it when you buy it, so that is why is important to buy the right one even if that takes longer while you learn and look at a few.
Plenty of advice on here.
Kind regards.Leave a comment:

S2's and avants are an aquired taste, took me 5 years so far and it is better today than it has ever been with me.
I always want more power, better brakes, new tyres and someone to put a tank of petrol in it for me just because I deserve one
I did 200 miles in it tonight and it makes me smile apart from paying for petrol on a 200 mile dash, I should gas it.
I love it.Leave a comment:

Just use your common sence bud, boost leaks are a pain and can be a bitch to find, but they are a strong car

I'm not to fussed either way on new or old, like i say i had a good old 'dizzy and 4 pot' engine in the capri and a 6 cylinder, coil pack bmw....
I'm after a nice tidy S2 that will get me to work and back, and just be an enjoyable car to drive, i've spent thousands on my capri and to no avail and the bmw has let me down also.
I want to be able to go out in the morning, turn the key, let it warm up for 10 mins and then drive to work enjoyably, i know some would say a 'saxo' or 'clio' could do that, but i do like cars that are a little different and have a lot of love for the S1 and S2 quattro's.
I guess the only difference would be a 6 speed box would be better for motorway driving but not for how much of that i will be doing really.
i'm going to look and probably buy Sunday, so any tips before hand i'm happy to learnLeave a comment:

That is an early S2, which is a 3b.Hey thanks for replies, well getting my hands dirty i've done ! switched out a 1.6 pinto in my Capri for a 2.1 bored out pinto, full engine, exhaust, wiring loom! was a nightmare - but got it going in the end.
I'll be honest and say i'm tempted to get this:

Is there anything i should be asking about it?
Do you want a 3b (early), or ABY (later)
3B is distributor ignition
5 speed
Lighter
ABY is
Coil on plug
6 speed (stronger)
dual mass flywheel (smoother, and heavier)
projector headlights (except on early abys)
battery under rear seat
Gear ratios are different in the 3b as well, same 5th, but the 3rd is a lot longer in the 3b. Gear change is different feel as well. ABY is a more direct route to RS2 spec, but both can be done.Leave a comment:

Welcome
Just check it well. You don't need to spend a fortune to get a good car the previous owner may have! Mine has tatty body work but mechanically is strong! Look on here for common problems and you may just bag a bargain
