  • Dry sump kit

At long last I have managed to put together a dry sump kit with Pace, this has been going on for the last 18 months, many visits to them (200 miles each way), project manager leaving and some else taking over. Etc etc. People sick or on holiday, usual staff.

Anyhow here is some pictures as assembled on the engine.

Modify standard sump acouple of views
Note the filter housing is no longer used, only to feed turbo, also no longer the breather on the block.

Looks very solid and I am sure it took you a lot of time figuring out how to design everything. Respect!

i thought the whole point of running a dry sump was to be able to get more clearance to drop the engine and lower the centre of gravity?
                    am i being really dumb?

Yes I agree with your comments and if I could have have enough interest sumps could have been casted for this purpose, or even CNCed, but dont forget I had an order for one right kit as per the pictures (customer wants to retain AC) and two left hand, and one of them drop out half way through.
So do you think the cost for casting just 3 (in the end 2) sumps? So I had to go with the modified existing one. No choice unless you want to pay huge sums and economic situation doesnt help either.

BTW dry sumping is not only for lowering the centre of gravity, old Grp B car run dry sumps and probably in the forest were a lot higher on suspension set ups then standard

                        feed to turbo

Blanking plate with feed to turbo union instead of filter housing

Not to rain on your parade after 18 months of torture but,

Agree with Error404's comment, but also fully understand/appreciate your reply and now for the big but, is it not a lot of trouble, nay expense for not too much gain compared to other mods? Or is it the last mod for someone who wants to go a step further than most?

                          Looks the part btw.

                          Kind regards.

                              Top job as ever.

                              Looks good mate, well done.

You might not be able to lower the engine but you can move some of the weight to the rear which i think is more important in our cars. Notwithstanding the main benefits of a dry sump system of course.

As you say horses for courses.
