  • 034MS propshaft bearing vs oem bearing

    Hi,

bought a new propshaft bearing from 034MS, and it does not compare as the same to the oem one. The new one have less support that makes the bearing go more easily to the sides, providing less stabiility of the propshaft.
It is also a little diffrent in style with the oem metal ring that is supposed to go between the bearing and the shaft, which I have to throw away to get it to fit.

Anyone used this on their b4 chassis, or any thoughts?

    Difference can be seen here:

It looks the same as a BMW 315 propshaft bearing. I changed my bearing to this BMW part on my rs2 and it works fine.

HMMMM. I'd say go with OEM. When I redid my bearing....

I used the BMW part. It went to rubbish in 2 months. I then went OEM and it went in without incidence and has been rock solid since. It was replaced 2 years ago. 034 makes pretty good stuff, but I think they missed the boat on this one.

It is a kind of silicone, sika-flex glue... It is not as soft as an Silicone and not as hard as an epoxy glue...

I need to sort one out. I'm now thinking about getting a knackered one and finding out the spec of the bearing and then making up some sort of rubber doughnut to fit it to the original housing... If anyone has an old bearing then measurements would be well helpfull please
