  • A4 calipers on s2 sized rotors:

    Hi everyone

I need a reasonable solution for brakes for now. Porsche calipers are out of the question. I happen to have a rebuilt set of A4 single 57mm piston calipers. This is what they look like when they're bolted up on coupe quattro rotors drilled to 5/112. A4 calipers are meant for 288mm rotors. The coupe rotors are 276mm. They're both 25mm wide rotors.

If this was just a temporary solution and just to make the car brake for now. Could I reasonably use it until I get proper brakes on it? It's not a dailly driver and it's not going to be driven hard for quite a while. I may even have porsche calipers on it by the time all is said and done but I wouldn't mind driving the car to have an exhaust made for it or something along the lines. It would be easier than having towed. Plus the whole feeling of having a moving and driving car would be nice.

PS I wanted to run 312mm by 25mm A8 rotors with this setup and tt caliper carriers but the offset of the s2 hubs screws everything up. I may look again at it but i don't see it happening.

josh, dave here from motorgeek, CC Box guy.

I'm kinda in the same boat, here are options i have found...

re-drill your current rotors, not my favorite but people have done it without problems

Source euro s2 rotors, expensive, not really worth it in my opinion.

URS4 rotors with spacers on your calipers to match the offset (they are 276mm)

I also recently picked up a couple pairs of Euro URS4 rotors 314mm to use with MK4 brakes like this

That should open up your options a bit...

Mine has TT225 calipers and UrS6 discs which are a nice upgrade from stock, but not quite as good as the Porsche setup

Which URS6 disc are we talking about? Size? Is this something I can get in the USA?

Is this the rotor? 288mm and it's a direct bolt on?

            4A0615301C?

I can get it in the USA. Sweet i might have a solid brake setup!

              There is more info here:
              http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37121
Unfortunatly I cannot answer the question regarding if they bolt straight on/need a carrier/spacing, as I have not removed them yet!
When I have time I will have a proper look with the wheel off and get some pics/part numbers

this is the only source i have found in the states

                http://www.ecstuning.com/ES3101/

and i'm not a huge fan of ecs, they are 314x30 disks...

I found a couple pairs cheap (one brand new, one slightly used and slotted) so i bought them both, i could could see you a set for sub 100 bucks shipped to your door.

I took a chance tonight. I did some more research and the 323mm rotors are the same exact as the 314mm rotors but just slightly larger. They're also used in the Rs2/brembo brake upgrade. So i'm going to try to kill two birds with one stone. I'm thinking i'm going to have custom adapters made so I can use the A4 stock caliper carrier with the stock 323mm sized rotors. Worse case scenario I run the stock coupe quattro rotors that i drilled to 5/112 with the A4 calipers. Option three is machine the 323mm rotors down to 312mm and get TT caliper carriers.
