So, having missed the MRC meet due to in-law duties I took myself off to see the Mihnea Magic Man last night about my V6...

I can report that with 3 in the car, on the private uphill MRC test track, I was past the sign over 5mph faster on Mihnea's custom map than stock. Mihnea was able to run 6 degrees of advance over stock on full load WOT, which is not bad considering the stock map was retarding on the same load, even on 99octane gas! We raised the rev limit as well, screw the Audi red-line!!

All in all, I'm happy - I realise I was never going to get a turbo-remap scale of increased performance, but the gains are there and they are noticeable. Had a rather quick drive home that's for sure

For me it was also completely fascinating watching Mihnea at work. It was like watching those scenes from The Matrix with all the raw code flashing on the screen - Mihnea studying the numbers and changing things on the fly - amazing!

So a big thank you to Mihnea, and also to your friend who was there with the chipped RS4 - oh my Lord how fast was that!

Improved fuel economy

THe other cool thing is that the engine sounds better when giving it the full beans too - interesting. Can anyone explain that? Must be something to do with the altered timing or something?

fuel economy, love it...what do u get from a tank anyway on the 3ltr?

Well the thing about the 3.0 is that it is far more sensitive to driving style than the S2 ever was. So, if I drive like a saint, I can get almost 450miles out of a full tank, which is very good. If I drive it like I have stolen it, that drops to about 320. So, it's anything from pretty good to no better than the S2 was.

It is worse in urban congestion though - just sitting at lights idling I have of course got that extra cylinder and 800ccs of displacement sucking in fuel for no forward use.
However, with it's incredible smoothness I do find myself driving around town in the 20mph range in 6th!

Aah, joys - was able to give the V6 a good work-over last night with just me in the car. Mihnea's electronic trickery has really opened up the mid-range and top end performance, clearly got more power, and more willingness to rev all the way past the red line than before. Feels much more "alive", hurrah!

yep, it's certainly livened the car up, especially in the 3.5-6k RPM area, revs quicker and is defintely happier revving up in the high rpms, all the way to our new higher redline, all good stuff! Enjoyed the evening too, so all in all a top Monday.

That RS4 though, my lord that is a mad car you've tuned there Mihnea, absoloutely amazing . Did your friend work out what the brake problem was?

Did you discover what was wrong with the chip burner?

Oh and I reckon those rogue turbos are Bugatti Veyron testers. Just my hunch - and I've read in quite a few places now that the Veyron's are pushing 1100ps when they come out of the factory now
