Behave....
SUPERCHARGE the 7A's. then watch the turbo engines run for cover (if done properly of course!!!!!!
I still believe this is the way forward for a 7A engine if you don't want the hassle of changing the looms etc.......
And think of the low down torque you would get with the right charger.....Dark Grey Avant
RS2 FARB
Powerflex Front wishbone bushes

Could probably get the cost down a bit with this, the 7a has a lovely bit of space down on the opposite side to the alternator on the engine, if a good sized sc could be found that would run the size engine and fit down the nicely then it could be done, I looked into it but iirc the pipework was going to be the fun part of making it work, that and me buying a s2 instead. If the car had a s2 front bumper a intercooler could be put there as well and the pipe work run across like a s2 style. It could be done just depends if someone has the time and patience.
I think I saw one once before that had a supercharger on it and running so iirc it has been done, anyone tempted to give it a go? Think the results would be worthwhile as the 7a would be a good engine with a bit of a kick in the low rev's.Comment

turbo is the only way
SC is ok but basically cannot flow the air at revs properly.
look at the closest relative the VW 16v. basically the same engine less a pot. be it KR, 9a, 6a, PL(states)
turbo motors have been known to make upto around the 1000hp mark. SC's max around the 300 mark. you could say the limiting factor is the G60 charger on most and yes it is but a twin screw still wont make turbo power, makes loads of noise and costs loads. its also a pretty big lump to fit. for the 7a guys if you want SC then look at the prochargers. my mate did a job for a customer in the past fitting a procharger to a subaru 2l sport. made just over 200hp IIRC 7psi
i have both. a 65mm pulleyed corrado G60 that makes around 17psi at 6k. makes 10psi before 2k. is off like no turbo car. it was quick and hard to catch by a subaru or the like but then it aint dragging a 4wd system either. still spinning wheels at 70. its ok for a single gear pull past someone when moving but the only laggy bit of a turbo car is the first time you put your foot down. next gear is in boost. bigger turbo's enthesise this point even more so as they make power where you rev it to when your foot down. really its a waste taking a standard turbo past 5500.
twin charge yes. a gated eaton with a big turbo is the way for the ultimate setup i feel.
superchargers are for high volume, low revving engines. yank V8's
sorry for the long-winded postComment
