    Sachs single plate clutch kits

I offer Sachs clutch kits for all I5 and V6 biturbo applications.

Basic S2 clutch incorporates CrMo flywheel, Sachs SRE pressure plate and unsprung 4-puck lightweight disc.

CrMo flywheel is better for sintered clutchdisc, which have habit of penetrating to the flywheel surface.

Crmo is also safer than cast iron ones, especially when revving high. Cast iron flywheel may explode on high revs, due to resilient nature of CrMo, it will never explode, no matter if You miss a gear and overrev the engine to 15 000rpm. It may shape shift, but not explode.

CrMo has also features over aluminium. Being a single piece, it is more stout than aluminum. Also the crank bolts do not penetrate the material like they do into aluminum over time. Furthermore, Crmo is resistant to excessive heat caused by heavy use on track or violent slipping, than aluminum with separate wear surface.

Unsprung disc is lightweight, and thus helps the otherwise problematinc 1st->2nd gearchange. The lighter the disc, the smoother the engagement on fast gearchanges. Unsprung disc is not on-off, like people think, but it is 'edgy', but in a sense anyone can learn to live with.

Lifespan of sinter disc is smaller than organic disc, but with reasonable use and minimized slipping on normal driving we have seen 50 000km driven discs in reasonable condition come out of 500hp cars.

Disc itself is repairable with small money. Also new disc is available separately.

I strongly recommend all projects exeeding 450hp, to consider replacing the cast flywheel with CrMo one. I also personally refuse to sell the press plate only for +450hp projects about to be used wit cast flywheels.

Flywheel comes in zero balance, and therefore requires no balancing, if Your engine is internally balanced.

These clutch kits are good for up to 550hp/600Nm with reasonable safety factor.

Kit price is 1350 eur for both, 016 and 01E transmissions with I5
Just the disc costs 190 eur.

I try to keep these in stock, but sometimes lead time is from 3 - 6 weeks.

Can you supply the clutches separately? Do you offer organic and sintered plates?

I think a lot of other things will go very wrong inside the engine besides the flywheel if the engine is overreved till 15000 rpm !

      Very wrong indeed !

I think I can supply the clutches and discs separately. Will post prices later.

Of course Your engine will fail if You overrev it to 15 000.

But if You have cast iron flywheel, it is pretty likely it to blow and cut off Your feet. With CrMo You won't have that issue to worry about.

did they live to tell the tale if it happened?

id expect they are no longer driving if thats the case so wont be on the forum to comment.

id expect 10kg or so of iron makes a good grinding/cutting disc.

whats the cost of the flywheels please. including uk shipping.

interesting clips those. both on rotary engines so about double our average RPM.

                      surely this makes a difference?

i got the option of a 7a flywheel or an aftermarket one. i can get the 7a lightened.

what im looking for is a good reason to spend the extra over the 7a. i know its a safty and totally valid point you have regarding cromo over iron but its still not enough for me. there are lots of iron flywheel users over the 500hp mark with legs.

when you do say 550hp-600hp builds do you always swap the flywheel out?

i already have a sach clutch waiting for me to fit it.

                            cheers

Power is not issue, but revs. Still, the more power You have, more likely You miss the gear and more likely You hit +10K rpm, and ever more likely You crack the flywheel.

So I hve kept 450 as my limit.

Of course there are people with iron flywheels.

My legs are worth more than 650. But it's Your choise. You can cook a flywheel out of cookie dough, and it may work. Nevertheless, my points are made.
