What's the difference between the AAN and ABY clutch?

I thought the flywheels were the same?

On another note, can you do a clutch kit for the B5 S4 / RS4, and if so, how much for?

      Thanks.

I offer my experience for you to consider. I've owned my '96 ABY coupe from 4000 miles. The clutch was always very heavy right from new. At 75,000 miles the pressure plate failed leaving the clutch locked up.
I replaced the whole clutch using a Sachs kit from Pete as well as the master cylinder. Pedal pressure was just as heavy.
After 50,000 miles the second pressure plate failed in exactly the same way as the first one. Posts on here offered no suggestions which makes me think mine is an isolated case.
For the second clutch change, I kept the friction plate and replaced the pressure plate with an OE from my local dealer (which I think was a Luk) because the pressure plate is now exchange and at £75 saved me a lot of money over another complete clutch from Pete.
I had to refit my original master cylinder as after 50,000 miles the ATe one from Pete was bursting out from it's rubber isolation coupling in the push-rod due to the excessive pedal pressure.
The latest OE clutch is doing fine, doesn't slip but at 10,000 miles it's too early to say if it will last but the most important thing is that the pedal pressure is half that of the earlier two clutches which makes the car much nicer to drive in traffic and will help the master cylinder survive.

what bhp is your car running? i want a sachs clutch, but it needs to cope with about 320 ish bhp/whatever the torque is. if i can buy standard from audi that will do the job i ll be happy.
5 or 6 good standing starts have left the one i have slipping like mad!

As the ABY S2 and the ADU RS2 both run the same clutch they are good for 315 bhp minimum up to around 400 bhp with no problems, the biggest problem seems to be be when the dual mass flywheel is NOT CHECKED before fitting and so is the biggest cause of premiture clutch fail

I think he means check it hasn't started to disintegrate, i.e the flywheel spins true, not all wobbly. The DM flywheels fitted to Porsche 911's are known for falling apart and needing replaced. Haven't heard of the same issue affecting Audi DM flywheels, seen lots of front pulleys fail that way.
