    Buying RS2

    Hi,

I'm thinking of buying an RS2 but is it reliable enough for daily use or not?
My dad thinks I am crazy buying a car that's over ten years old.

Can anyone give me some advice of buying one or not?

    Greetz,

My thoughts (Havinng bought one 2 months ago, and going through the same question)

          As long as:
          - you can pay for the petrol
          - can keep a good service schedule up, including items that are not on the normal schedule, top mounts being a prime candidate. If you have a mechanical brain this helps as it reduces the amount of time required in the garage.
          - Have a small slush fund for stuff, this will be nothing compared to other similar performance cars such as tvrs or evos. Labour rates for specialists are approx £50 ph and parts can be very reasonable if you look around.

Do your home work, get people in the know to look at any potential purchases(people on here will be more than glad to help) and you will get a car that offers good reliability and breathtaking performance.

            Buying RS2

            Thanks for the advice guys!

Maintenance and repairs I can do myself so that's no problem. (Have taken engine out of dad's car wich is a A6 2,7 Biturbo wich had a broken turbo 6 months ago)

How many petrol does it drink? (depending of the driving style)
What weak points does the car have???

MPG i seem to be getting about 16-17 but i seem to be worse than most as i live in the land of roundabouts that is Milton Keynes, living 'my life a quarter mile at a time'. It really depends on your drives, most of mine is stop start and windy country lanes, get onto a motor way go ok you will be looking at 26, sit in traffic at 50 i even got mine to 45!

Weak points i'm perhaps a bit new to comment on this. Brakes seem to be the worst part requiring lots of love, given the weight of the car they have a lot of work to do. Not sure what else is weak i have told that diffs are very strong, turbos and engines pretty good. If you are handy with a spanner then i think there are very few weak points that you will not be able to sort yourself.
I maybe talking complete a$%e, I will be interested to hear the thoughts of other owners though.

                Buying RS2

mobile.de has a couple of interesting RS2's for sale, autoscout also.
Thinking of buying car in Germany because here in Belgium it's not easy to find one.

I found one on mobile that interests me:
