now i've done it! (urgent help required!)

OK, here's the scenario. after 2 months and over $1500 in parts just to glue a 7A back together, I've FUBARed a block I was popping the pistons back in and the first 4 went like butter. the 5th, however, didn't. I didn't notice but the ring compressor didn't compress one of the oil scraper rings properly and as I was tapping it in, it caught on the top of the bore, pulled out some more and put a 1 inch scrape down the side of the bore. (insert many epletives here)

SOOOOOOO how does this affect you guys in the UK? well, it just so happens that a good friend of mine is shipping a couple of welding stations over here next month in a 24ft container and kindly offered me some space. so the question goes out, does anyone have a low mileage 7A block or even engine they would like to get rid of for a reasonable amount?

ANY help is greatly appreciated in this matter as my only other option around here is to bore it out and have custom pistons made as i can't get oversized audi pistons for the 7A. obviously, that would be a good solution except for the fact that i'll spend waaaay more than 165 horsepower is worth.

    thanks again guys

nope, she's well and truely fooked. if i'm gonna use this block, i'll need to bore it and get custom pistons made.

c'mon, there's gotta be SOMEBODY here who's itching to do an S2 conversion and is just looking for a reason!

If i had any brains, i woulda scrapped the 5 and bought a V6 months ago

Stroker and rebore to 2.6 litres?

I have a 40 k miles 7a engine but Will ( WAB the king) has a stripped block which would be cheaper to ship.

            Couldn't the block be linered?

Thank you for your responses, it's greatly appreciated

a 2.6 would be fun but, really, just wouldn't be worth the money IMHO. i've already spent more than 165hp is worth and i really don't want to have to spend more on machining and custom parts. the only upside i can think of in the case of boring and custom pistons is that i'd have a 100% fresh motor ready to go for many miles or maybe even FI in the future....but not something i really need.

i thought you could only liner an Al block....didn't know you can fix an Iron one. I'll have to investigate this option
