    engine rebuild

    Hi all,

I found this on the internet at ebay.de, motorumbau
It is a company called MB-cartuning (www.mb-cartuning.de), they can rebuild our aby,3b,aan or adu engines. When they rebuild it will be hohned (dont know if this is the right word) and fitted with rs2 bearing and rs2 headgasket. Also the distribution belt, pressure role etc will be changed. They will even paint your engine in blue, yellow, red or black. They ask 1500 euro for it. Not included are transport and getting the engine out and in.

They ask 5.000 to make a aby/3b to rs2 specs(including the engine rebuild) they will use a new turbo and new injectors. I think they will use secondhand exhaust manifold. Also the software is included.

They also offer a converstion from a T89 audi cabrio to 20v turbo engine. Including better brakes and exhaust. This will cost you 4.000 euro.

I dont find it to expenses,

Never heard of them as far as Audi tuning companies go, and they supposedly custom map each engine specifically. Their 370 HP quote sounds a little bit over the top, as if the car has cats, I don't think it can make that much power, esp. on 3B/ABY cats...

No i also dont think it will make the 370hp, they even claim 380hp on the homepage.

But they do sell two kind of cats: - 100 cells: 240 euro
      - 200 cells: 260 euro

They also sell a Map (einstelbrarer Drucksensor VMAP) which can be adjusted(?) between 2,5 and 4,0 bar. Never heared about that before.

At the moment they are busy with a rs2 conversion, besides the engine they also change the calipers to A8 calipers with 340 disks. I have never read something on the forum about using the a8 caliper, mostly porsche

Doing HP2 calipers upgrade is more common for larger cars with UFO's.

I don't know if it is the same one, but an adjustable VMAP is made here in the States by a Gentleman named Fieco. I believe Mihnea is aware of these.

There engine rebuild seems cheap at 2100 (or 2350) euro's. But the pistons are not replaced, only the pistonrings... Also no new valves or something like that. This is more like a rebuild for a very fresh engine. They (not them!) do similar "between races" rebuilds in competition only changing conrods, shell, bearings and gaskets, etc.

The 2.5 conversion and especially the Swedish crankshaft seems interesting, although I don't like the fact they (also others) modify the pistons, JE in this case...
