Buying an S2 with serious known problems in Brazil

This is my first post on this forum. my name is Rodrigo and am from the south of Brazil.

There is a red S2 sedan 1994-1995 for sale here, with a broken engine. The car in general is good, with some details. The owner pushed hard and didn'd give very good maintenance, Car has alleged 56k miles, but it's very likely to be 80k or more. Conditions here are very severe: quality of roads and streets is terrible, wheather, quality of fuel...

But the prince is cheap, 30% less, maybe more....

The 5 cylinder engine is very rare in Brazil, and I'd need a serious rebuild on this S2. It seems to me that engine shares the design with the volkswagen 1.8L, widespread around here. Is that true?

I would need to buy a new crankshaft, where can I find one and how much would it cost me? Same for oil pump.

What aboud suspension and drivetrain. Which parts I would probably need to change soon on that car?

I really don't mind buying a car with problems, having an audi turbo 5 cylinder + quattro is a big dream of mine. If I get parts for a reasonable price and get good information to get a good discount with the dealer,

    I'd appreciate some help..

No S2,,, But maybe just not yet|!

The car may cost 9000 dollars.. A little bit less than a new 2 door hatchback with an 1.0L engine and nothing more.

the price seems to be too high!
about engine, i have to rebuild my engine (piston rings, head, gaskets, bearings.....) and i paid for this about 700eu including work. the pistons rings and bearings are the same as in vw 1.8 g60 engine! (dont use pistons from usualy 1.8 vw engine, it doest work good... )

          good luck!

            Hey guys!

Well I found this guy in Sao Paulo that is specialized in S Audis and I talked to him about half an hour by phone... He sorted all my doubts.

The number of S2s that came to Brazil probably doesn't reach 150 units, so it's a very rare car around here. He had even not heard of a red sedan around here...

He gave me a good idea of the costs for a full engine rebuild, as well as suspension repair... He also told me that the car is overvalued and will hardly ever be sold for that value. the price he would pay is 37% less.

But for sure the seller will laugh if I offer that less money... No problems, I'll take my time, save the money with no hurry, and one day he'll possibly put the price down...

By the way, a S2 in perfect conditions here costs around 16000 dollars... A RS2 more than twice...

That's it, cars are quite expensive here... =(

Or maybe one day I get myself a quattro drivetrain to install on my 1984 VW Parati... From stock 1.6L 8v with carbs and 4 speed gearbox I'm running an 2001 1.8L 8v multipoint fuel injected engine, with 5 speed gearbox... Used to have a turbocharger at 1,5bar, but not anymore... Now I have everything ready to go for an Audi/VW 2.0 16v conversion, including the cnx gearbox...

I'd have to sell all that to buy the S2, but now that I'll wait for the price go down I'll start the conversion on january.

            thanks for the warm welcome!

And see the photo of my car, it's audi same DNA..
