    The Original RS2?

It appears from another thread that some people are unaware of the original RS2 made by MTM, based on the S2 Coupé.

I was only made aware of it when I first got my S2, when a friend of mine thought it was a RS2.
So I said no, RS2s weren’t made until 1994, and they were an Avant, not a coupe. But he insisted that someone he knew had a RS2 in the early ‘90s and it was definitely a coupe, and was a very quick car.
Shortly after the conversation I read the article in Volkswagen Audi Car 1995 on the MTM RSR, and concluded that it must’ve been one of those.

Yeah, I always thought it was called RSR - I was wrong. Anywho, I find that although companys like MTM use a title like RS2 for a car, it is still not a Audi RS2, at best, it's a MTM RS2. So, there is still NO such thing as a '92 Audi RS2 Coupe, there never was, there never will be, there was a MTM RS2 Coupe apperently. Audi made a RS2 and that one is THE RS2 period.

At the beggining MTM has called the car RS2! But when audi came out with the Audi RS2 then MTM changed the name of the Tuned S2 from RS2 to RSR!

                        Good read. Cheers Stu

3 spokes have never looked cool, not at all helped by them being fitted to such cars as the Fester RS1800. Not too sure about the interior though, keep fit windows and a lovely seat fabric finished with a lovely car mat that looks like it came out of aforementioned Fester... Hmmmmm.

However, personal taste aside, that RSR (or should I say MTM RS2) is bloody fantastic.

Its weird, the 3-spoke alloys. When I were a lad i used to really like the 3-spokes on Abbott Racing-modified Saab 900s. After seeing these ones on the MTM RSR I have just dug out an ancient copy of Performance Car magazine and had a look at those old Abbott Racing Saabs. They look bloody awful to me now as well. Ah well, it was obviously just a phase!

why does it have 265s on the front and 235s on the back? is this to try and overcome the understeer?

yes, bigger wheels up front will alter the handling balance and reduce understeer - it will also improve braking performance too.
