    Some S2 Info Please!

Hello, im new to this forum!

Just been looking around at some different cars and came across a couple of Audi S2's on the Autotrader!! Just wanted some information on them please! I had a Nissan 200sx S14a running around 330bhp with quite a few mods but I drove it in to a tree

Just wanted to know the following things really:

How quick are they as standard?
    Whats the insurance like?
    How are they on fuel?
What are the tuning costs like?
How much am I looking at to get it to a reliable 300bhp??

    Cheers, Sam

Go easy on my im new

The following info is for the ABY engined S2 Avant...

    6.1 sec : 0-100 km/h
Here in Belgium, 29 years old, private garage: More or less 1000 Euros/year
    I average 12.0 - 12.5 liters/100km
Depends on what you want to tune :mischeif: Personally, I find upgrading an S2 relatively OK price wise.
Just an "electronics" upgrade will bring you up to 285 bhp, ABY engines are easily capable of 350 - 400 bhp for again relatively little money... Search the forum, you'll find plenty of info.
Some guys here are driving 500+ bhp S2's

      Hi,

I'm fairly new to the S2 scene, here's a few answers from my limited experience:

      1. Standard 5.7s 0-60 (mine's a 3B; ABY are 5.9s as they are heavier)

      2. UK insurance is about £100/mo with a few mods, 22yrs and it's my 1st policy (no NCB).

      3. Fuel, my last tank was 22mpg - usually avg 23-24 and 28-30 on long 70-80mph runs.

      4. Tuning costs are very reasonable as it's such an overbuilt car; I have de-cat pipes + external WG, K&N filter, exhaust cam from a 7A and a custom remap and have a reliable 300BHP though that's unusual on a stock turbo (I've been told I have a good specimen ). You'll want to throw down on a brake upgrade first though for sure.

      cheers

        I have a 1993 aby.
The best thing you will ever doo is buy an S2 im runing in the 300bhp mark and its 100% reliable with no problems, as for general running costs i cant see it being a hell of a lot more sxpensive then your 200sx.
A couple of my friends have STI 8's 1 is pushin 330BHP which i can out ecelarate and the other is pushin400 ish which is faster but not embarisingly faster! 300bhp S2 WILL beat a 330bhp 200sx in a drag and on the twisties allways!

        0-60 is around 5sec
Top end is over 165mph because iv hit 165 and had to start braking before i ran out of land, but it was still pulling before i had to brake!
Mpg, my driving varys long journies and twisty stuff.
On long journies it returns around 27-28mpg average, and when i push it it will return around 12-14mpg average, works out aroung the 20mph at the end of the week, which aint bad i think!

Hope to see you in an S2 soon good luck!
Probably the longet S2 project in history EVER!

Ross u has that dynoed? thats very impressive 300hp on stock turbo. I have got 281hp so maybe i will start on an exhaust with no cats an external wastegate and 7a exhaust cam and i think i might get close considering my cat has collapsed to.

              Steve,

she was dyno'd reliably @ 285bhp with just a generic MRC remap and decats - when Chris still had the car, he fitted a 3" exhaust and ext. WG pipe, along with the 7A Ex. cam and then had a custom remap @ MRC... a dyno at Wells Lane - which I hear is very over generous, came out at 324bhp.

Since then the 3" system has been removed, and I've bought the car

I had the car at MRC a couple of weeks ago and Mihnea's opinion is it's still pulling very well (even with the more restrictive exhaust) and felt like a reliable 300. When I have the 3" system fitted, that should guarantee that value

              cheers

Yeah, I'm struggling with the same temptation! One day, I'd like to get an RS2 conversion done.. for now, I'm trying to hold back and just do the 'ground work' - after all 300bhp isn't slow Exhaust and then suspension I think for this year... btw haven't heard from Longlife yet; forgot most ppl don't work this time of year!

Did you get any snow down there by the way? I had a sprinkling on one of our roads and damn, it was fun. i want more!

                  cheers

The snow has only just started to fall round my way, so should be fun when it. Ill await conformation from everyone that wants it done and talk to longlife. Maybe worth asking a few other companies to see if they would be interested in group buy in exhausts to. Ill email a few
