bit of an odd question I know but I am curious why certain countries got these cars and others didn't....does anyone know of a list/any info that tells me what cars went where....
I know us poor saps in North America are bound by certain Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. Some of these standards apply to crash testing, lighting, power, etc., thus the lack of such a fine machine on this side of the water.
Funny you should say that I am heading your "way"...Vancouver to be precise..... and I am trying to find out what the audi scene is like out there....looks like I will have to re-think my next car!!....

if you're lookin for 20vt, you're looking for S4 and S6. otherwise you're lookin at the 2.7tt S4 and s6 (not sure if the 2.7 is the S6 or if the 4.2v8 is the S6)
and RS doesn't exist here. if you want mega audi power here that isn't rare as hens teeth, i suggest one of the 2.7tt options. and as far as tuning goes in Canada, Vacouver is one of the best places to be, alot of VERY wealthy people out that way...I street parked my corrado behind a 550 to go to a steakhouse last time i was out that way.

This may not be an option for you or even possible but you could bring back everything you want parts wise from the S2 and find a nice example of a Coupe Q in the area. aby engine,s2hubs,s2bumpers
I think Iam the mad man and would be crazy enough to actually do that in your situ-
if you REALLY want an S2 in Canada you CAN bring one....let's hear it for the 15 year exemption rule!!!!! sell yours, pick up a lhd one on the continent (as long as the build date it 15 years ago i think by month) and you're set. hell, if its 15+ years old, don't think you even need lhd, but don't quote me on that bit, cuz i don't know for certain.
on a related note, anyone got an RS2 that's gettin close to the cutoff date?!
Norway has all the cars.............from 91 S2 Coupe up to 2006 RS4. But not many sold new here in Norway. We have alot of RS2`s and S2 saloons in fact here. There is 3 original S2 saloons around here i live. One dark green metallic, one silver metallic and one laser red.
2003 VW Passat Highline 130 TDI wagon with ALL options.
I have already asked the question about RS2's!!!....didn't start production til 1994!!...
As for bringing bits...thats what s2 forum is for...amen!!....
if you guys want anything bringing...no engines/cars, mind...I maybe able to "hid" 'em in my part shipping container!!.....
Life without my S2
Please enlighten me on this part-shipping container. Are you saying you can ship things here cheaply or fairly cheaply? As you can see I'm soemewhat excited about that possibility
Sorry... I must of confused you...it is me, having only a 'part-container' to use (along with other people) and not a 'parts container'...sorry about that...but if you wanted to buy items from europe I may be able to stash them in our container when we move our gear over there in May.....
Any requests will be listened but as long as they are not too out there!!....(cars, engines etc!!!)
yep, our regs (crash & emissions among others) suck
plus, the vast majority of drivers here are quite content with cheap hunks of deeeetroit iron. and we have to deal with ridiculous speed laws. so in the end, the business case for high performance cars is pretty weak on this side of the water. that or the powers that be THINK we won't buy in enough numbers...i dunno.
hey, we do have the new S4...that's what, 300+hp? that's certainly enough to get you in trouble in these parts :mischeif: (hell, it took all of 6hrs for me to get in trouble with the 174 my corrado has!)
if that's not enough for ya, hpa and momentum motorsports are two of the bigger outfits in vancouver, certainly able to put enough oomf in it to scare you!

What is the deal with buying in the states??.....import duty into Canada??....what other costs would I incur??.....it's just I have seen a few nice s6's over that way!!...even the last s4's look very nice......
I've tried looking around europe (granted through ebay) and cannot find a suitable car
to bring with me......
Hey-ho....off now as someone is coming to look at the car....
