If the Q7 roadtest is off road at all it might be worth it for sh!ts and giggles, but otherwise I'd stick to the S cars...
I don't think it would be too hard to get a normal test drive in a Q7 at a dealer - they'll be desperate for people to change their opinion that it's just a heavier, uglier Touareg...
Nothing feels fast for long...

I agree with Hiltoa, If the test is off road give the Q7 a blast if not stick to the S cars and if you have an 1.5 hours on all three and it's on a circuit thats one lap in the S8, one lap in the S6 and the last 1hr 45mins in the RS4

dont do it !!!
i test drove a rs6 a few months ago dont get me wrong it was amazing till i got back in the s2 and i felt like i had the bhp of a saxo took me ages to feel the power of the s2 again
I have purchased nothing from then - not for want of trying though I have to say but I have been in contact with their camberley dealership many times in the last 12 months.
Yeah Dave - be careful... means you are on the hit list of a car salesman... Stroke 'em along - tell him you have a massive bonus coming in September and that you'd love to borrow a neu RS4 for the weekend just to make your mind up !
LOL i'm not worried about their salesmen, I basically said find me the right A4 Quattro or Allroad and I would buy it - never even followed up to say they couldn't locate anything so...
It would be a good test to see how different the S8 and S6 is, given their similarities. The Rs4 is a given, I wouldn't bother with the Q7 if its on tarmac, especially if u have to drive it afer the RS4!
As with the dealers, as soon as they ring (and you think you've got all the test driving out of them that you can) tell them that you've gone and bought an M5 or something! TBH though its not that bad having them ring you up, quite funny really! I remember when I test drove a 106GTI (back when I had a 1.4 306 LX ...YEAH!). The only reason i arraged a test drive was because they wouldn't give me a courtesy car, so I managed to get the car for half a day and then took it back and went to the other part of the dealership to pick up my 306! Remmber the guy was quite young and really enthusiastic- saw him in Macro shopping and hid from him because I was expecting him to ask whether i had made my mind up about the GTi!

...ever since I floored you I knew that I loved you!
1st Place S8 (Just simply an awesome car which although looks huge its actually a great drive, sounds fabulous and the grip of those brakes is unreal - it had the £4k optional carbon brakes, maaaaaaan do they haul up).
2nd place goes to the RS4 - actually quite a pointy car and the manual box is good - sounds good but for me lacked the drama of a turbo'd car. The torque is always there but the shove was just to consistent/linear...i prefer the peaky delivery of a turbo. Interior, seats and the bose stereo were great....
3rd place is the S6 Avant....looked the mutts in black pearl with black tints - very 'brochure' and whilst it sounds great and brakes/handles well, for me it was just a tourer and not much more. Was night and day versus the S8, the S6 power delivery was just not as urgent as the S8 - i'm sure you'd eat up motorway miles and be very happy and its a big car but for me the one with the least amount of character.
The S8 was £76k list for the ahem....base model options included the 14 speaker B&O system and the £4k carbon brakes with no change required until at least 185,000 they reckon. I'd be a chaufeur just to drive one daily
