Well, it looks like the new TT might bring the 5pot sound back!

Here's the proof that Audi is preparing a hot version of its new TT coupe.
Caught testing in Germany, this white prototype looks similar to the test hacks originally spied in Finnish cold-weather testing late last year. But under the skin, this machine features a more performance-focused package.
We believe these pictures show the TT S, which insiders say will use a 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine (effectively half a Lamborghini motor) that could hark back to the sound of the original quattro from the 1980s. Sources say the car will have 350bhp on tap, so it seems likely that two turbos will be used, perhaps in sequential layout. The twin-turbo engine is likely to be mated to six-speed manual and S-tronic transmissions, and the car will only be available with four-wheel drive.
The TT S is expected to break cover officially before the end of this year. It will be eagerly awaited by performance enthusiasts - unlike the original car, the new model has good enough driving dynamics to cope with the extra grunt.
"Hot TT's five-cylinder engine will evoke memories of the original quattro"
I'm guessing TSI. Supercharger and turbo (bla bla bla on a tap as the article said). Too bad it still looks like a hairdresser's wet dream. If it's true, cool.
They are just assuming it will be twin turbo, look at the wording....Sources say the car will have 350bhp on tap, so it seems likely that two turbos will be used, perhaps in sequential layout.
what i have heard from Audi representatives in Germany, that in about half year they will put 3.6 V6 into TT, but nothing about R5 Turbo.
This new V6 seems to make TT quite quick.
I can't imagine them putting a real manly 5pot into a TT, could you? Its more of a silky smooth city cruiser, and the off beat throb of the 5pot wouldn't really be what the punters want. I'd say a 3.6 V6 would be far more likely.
...ever since I floored you I knew that I loved you!
Hmmmm, is this twin sequential turbocharging system really coming along for the new "unannounced" inline 2.5 five pot?
I've pledged on Audifans to run naked through a field of nettles if so, might end up having to do the ****** too
Still no official worrd from Audi UK as regards the RS version of the new TT or what engine it would have even if it was a reality, but plenty of internet pictures abound.

England must be a Country. :mischeif:
I had a play with a new TT the other day, no badges. I showed him the imposing face of the s2 and he let me past and could I get rid of him.....no........he must have been cleaning it with hair wax to reduce drag
