    Help: Main Dealer Claims...

    Hi folks.

Ok. The main dealer where I got my car repaired is trying to prove that they didn't damage my Cyl 4 valves.
After my spark plug shot out of cylinder 3, they reckon some debris made its way down into cylinder 3, then found its way into cylinder 4, then exited through the exhaust, bending a valve on it's way. And all this without damaging the cylinders or head or pistons.

    1) Is this even possible?
    2) How likely is this?

    Thanks,

    JohnB

Almost Impossible and VERY UNLIKELY I would say
So what they are saying is:

-Spark Plug loosens and flies out of cylinder 3
-Debris is ingested..which then passes through the exhaust valve of cylinder 3 and "somehow" teleports itself and is ingested into the inlet valve of cylinder 4......
-Next it exits cylinder 4 via the exhaust valve and Manages to bend it this time (having passed through 2 valves earlier with no damage caused!!
-Lastly...it must have passed through the turbo without any problems and made its merry way out of the exaust system

IMHO there is no way this could have happened and I think if the chain of necessary events for it to happen is outlined to the stealer they may think differently.

but this doesnt solve the mystery of how was the valve damaged? More history about the incident and repair neeeded on that one!

draw them a picture with i diagram and a flow chart they might understand pictures, it is very odd though. I had a problem with my other audi after it went to the stealers i rang audi headoffice and it was soon back in there for free and they got it right. HTH

Yep, that's pretty much what they're saying.

They've offered me a refund for the scratches on the car, but nothing for the labour hidden charges, or the broken valve.
James, do you have the Audi HQ phone number?

          Thanks,

sounds like utter rubbish but to be honest nothing more than you would expect if they have c*cked up and trying to side step responsibility, blind the customer in the hope they'll agree.

            Good luck

              Hi John,

Number for Audi custom care is 0800 197 1513.
Had a similar experience when dealer damaged 2 coil packs on my S2.
Made a complaint to Audi uk and face to face with dealer.
In the end I got 5 new coil pack and spark plugs as compensation.

Make a strong complaint mate, and don't take their BS about debris in cyl 4.
              Best of luck.

Not possible in my opinion, if something did get in there it would make a mess of the piston and head in no time. It’s not going to get out either, if it did get past the exhaust valve it would have bounced around the exhaust manifold before taking out the turbo.

Far more likely a monkey wrench went for a test drive and over revved it, valve bounce, bent valve. I would be hopping mad demanding they take the head off and show me the evidence. Something fishy is going on there mate.

I have to say ive never heard such a crock of **** in all my life.
How does a combustion engine work if whatever is in one cylinder is allowed to teleport into another cylinder?.
Id ask to speak to the head tech and ask him/her if they like their backside the way it is, if they do id let them know that it will soon look like a tattered windsock unless they sort it out.
