    H143 YVV now URQ20

H143 YVV was an Audi owned car and then used by Audi dealer principal Adrian Woods, since 2000 it is with me in Melbourne Australia. It is panthero black and best of all it is an urq 20 valve and not an S2. H143 YVV was featured in the May 2000 issue of EVO magazine and is now registered as URQ20. There are some images of URQ20 on our website http://www.roofcarriersystems.com.au/snowtyres/ in the section "snow tyres in action"
URQ20 now has a computer & IC upgrade, 996 brakes, using sport quattro discs and brake adaptors from Corey.
In addition to the Autocar article I hope some one can post the excellent article "Where's the vorsprung?" from "CAR" of March 1991 which asks the question
" Audi's S2 successor to that paragon the quattro, is an impressive machine, but it doesn't have the raw appeal of the old car. Is that really progress?"
    and concludes
" A worthy successor then? Not on looks or involvement, no, but the S2 is still a formidible car, less the raw driving machine, more the civilised express. Sad really, to see the loin cloth give way to the pinstripe suit."

Now the 20V engined variety is my favorite of all the URs (including the purposeful and butt ugly shortie), but IMO the S2 is a better looking car - despite the lovely arches of the UR - the overall looks are dated now. I'd still like one and would be proud to own one, but the S2 has aged much better IMO.

Driving dynamics of the UR in stock trim are undoubtably better - that is down to weight primarily. Some judicious weight removal, lowered centre of gravity, uprated brakes, suspension and software can greatly transform the 'involvement' factor on the S2. Its partly why this forum exists !

But then that is true if you apply the same logic to the ur Paul
