S2 with Quattro cloth interior?

Is it normal/what is the deal with S2s having Quattro interior? I have heard it mentioned a few times on the forum but just seems odd to me.

Why would you think its odd? the S2 is a quattro after all, and not everybody likes leather....
I would prefer something different myself, I don't like leather, but equally, the quattro cloth is a little boring....
maybe I can find some of that lovely pink quattro cloth interior trim to fix me up...

I thought the S2 and Quattro were counted as two completely seperate beasts. Thats why I thought it odd for an S2 to have what I would consider a lower specs cars interior e.g. XR3i interior in an RS Turbo.

Ok, is this what we have established so far?
An S2 is a turbofied Quattro.
Therefore it is fine and normal for an S2 to have Quattro interior.
Was the Quattro interior the lowest spec then?
Anything else?

Bear in mind that "Quattro" isn't used as a term denoting the model but just indicates the 4 wheel drive system. It doesn't infer that the S2 is a lesser spec vehicle. It's not like the interior has "16v" printed all over it.

Yup, As said previously quattro is just the drivetrain used, ie. audi's four wheel drive. To say your vehicle is quattro doesnt make it any less or more desirable, its just 4wd.

Dont really know if there is any rs snobbery though, doubt it as most audi owners would agree that owning an audi puts you on a higher pedestal anyhow.

hehe. Yeah there's Audi snobbery but doesn't seem to be much between Audi owners. I dare say some owners of new RS4s and R8s may look down upon us owners of older cars but the true believers will openly admire an older Audi as a classic.

PS - I'm stuck with cloth but i'd prefer leather.

Quattro interior was more or less standard on S2's up to 93

And then you start finding leather and jacquard interiors and in some cases retro installed half leather.

I may yet upholster my seats in an exotic half tartan rug/half leather finish. All the ladies will love me.

By the way i'm sure an R8 or RS4 etc owner would be happy to say his car is a quattro. My 3B has it printed across the back window so lesser mortals may see the word that causes old ladies to faint, old men to retire to their beds and young lads in hot hatches to go "****in 'ell. whatha****wasthat?"
